 Thanksgiving Thank Yous
 

Our community is so grateful for the generosity and support for our little cluster of families.  We would like to give two special shout outs to:
  • The youth of the HDGHA community youth who came together and helped clean up fallen leaves all over the neighborhood while having fun together
  • The generous ladies of Lal Nas Court # 240 who donated 25 turkeys and all the Thanksgiving fixins' for those in our community who needed supplies for Thanksgiving. 
We SO appreciate these incredible acts of kindness!

Get Help with Heating Bills


The Maryland Energy Assistance Program (MEAP) provides financial assistance with home heating bills.  Payments are made directly to the fuel supplier and energy company on the customer’s behalf.

Renters, homeowners, residents of public housing, sub-metered homes (where you pay another company, not the utility directly), Roomers/ Boarders are all eligible for Energy Assistance grants. The most important factors in determining who is eligible for energy assistance are the size of your household and how much money you made in the last 30 days.

Check Out These Local Holiday Events 

Lots of fun holiday events coming up in Havre de Grace, Aberdeen and Bel Air!  Check them out:
Havre de Grace celebrates the holiday season with a parade, tree lighting ceremony, and Santa and Mrs. Claus at Santaland. Get a jump on the shopping season at the Downtown businesses and First Friday Vendors on Pennington Ave. Franklin Street will be dressed in holiday style and will host children’s activities. Music and live performances on stage at Rochambeau plaza throughout this special night. 

Questions About the COVID-19 Booster?

The CDC has authorized a 3rd dose of the COVID-19 vaccine for some Americans, including those with a health condition that severely weakens their immune system such as:

  • Organ transplant recipients
  • Current treatment for blood and lymph cancers (leukemias and lymphomas) and most other types of cancers requiring chemotherapy
  • Stem cell transplant recipients
  • Advanced HIV infection
  • Active treatment with medications that weaken components of the immune system, including 20 or more milligrams/day of prednisone or comparable steroid medications, TNF blockers, and other medications that impair response of the immune system
  • Primary immunodeficiency diseases (e.g., DiGeorge, Wiskott-Aldrich syndromes)
  • Severe renal disease

Building Strong Families Program Open for Registration

Building Strong Families is a new service developed in cooperation with Harford County Public Schools and funded by a grant from the United Way of Central Maryland (UWCM). 

Participants receive FREE family coaching that helps children stay in the schools they know and assists parents with gaining elf-sufficiency. Registration is open to Harford County families with at least one enrolled school aged child.

Tune in tonight at 5pm for our Parenting Support Group Holiday ZOOM Party!  Meet other moms and dads just like you to swap ideas and share support. Each household in attendance gets a FREE gift card!

The Harford County Office on Aging's Senior Center Online Video Library features some very cool Arts & Crafts titles! Learn about pour painting, how to make a Christmas card ornament, creating a seasonal pine cone wreath and more!  Check it our here.

HDGHA Housing Waiting List Is Open
 


The Havre de Grace Housing Authority Waiting List is OPEN. Apply to live in Somerset Manor today! This close-knit community of townhomes features units with 1-5 bedrooms and is one of the safest neighborhoods in Havre de Grace. Laundry facilities on site, each home has a shed and yard, too.  Learn more and apply at hdgha.org.
