eNews for Wednesday, July 25

The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us,
is itself a marvelous victory.
~ Howard Zinn

Worship Matters

Please plan to join us for worship this coming Sunday, July 29 as we continue our Summer Worship Series “Sharing the Stories of Living Our Faith,” with a personal reflection and discussion led by our minister, Dawn Daniels.

We find by losing. We hold fast by letting go. We become something new by ceasing to be something old… Out of each old self that dies some precious essence is preserved for the new self that is born; and within the child-self that is part of us all, there is perhaps nothing more precious than the fathomless capacity to trust.

~ Frederick Buechner

You can read more about our monthly theme as well as explore some supplemental resources here. And if you happen to miss being in worship on any given Sunday, the texts to previous sermon messages (and some of the readings as well) can be found in our website sermon archive.

Upcoming Services

Summer Worship Series (July 1 – August 19)
Theme: Sharing the Stories of Living Our Faith

First Friday Potluck - August 3

Join us next Friday for our August First Friday communal nosh! Who is hosting? and what’s the theme? We don’t know, but perhaps you’d like to host and choose! If so, please contact Jen Prout (989-400-313) or George Lentz (248-346-4039). If you enjoy the potlucks, please consider hosting - it is fun and easy!

We will be celebrating the August birthdays of Carolyn Hancock, Bob McBride, Bob Corbett, Terrie Robbie, Liz Dealing, Bob Clason, Ethan Kolek, Betty McBride, and Tiffany Waite. The potluck begins at 6:30 p.m. - helping hands are welcome at 6:15 p.m. to assist with set-up preparations.

Infant Pantry Collection - August 5

Donations for the Infant Pantry are collected on the first Sunday of each month. Most needed items are things for baby care - diapers and pull-ups in sizes 4, 5 or 6, creams, shampoos, lotions, and baby food in jars. To donate money, make the checke out to CCN (Community Compassionate Network) with memo “Infant Pantry.” Contact Tom Moffit (989-772-1602; moffi1tc@cmich.edu)
with questions.

Directory Updates

If you have changed your phone, postal address or email account, please let us know by August 12! We'll be printing our August update to our Directory soon. Send your information to our Administrative Assistant, Kirsten Keeton, or tell Gisela Moffit. Thank you!

What’s on Your Ballot?

Interested in knowing what your ballot will look like for the next election? Go to vote411.org and find out. Enter your address to find your polling place, build your ballot with our online voters’ guide and much more! You can see the races on your ballot, compare candidates’ positions side-by-side, and print out a “personalized ballot” indicating your choices. Take your sample ballot with you to the polls as a reminder and take it with you to the polls on Election Day.
Your vote counts!
I pin my hopes to quiet processes and small circles.
