Worship Matters

We will gather this Sunday, April 21 to worship together with Norma Bailey, who will present “Easter, Earth Day and Stewardship Sunday – What a Perfect Mix!” We hope you will join us.

Easter, a Christian and cultural spring festival celebrated since early times; Earth Day, a yearly reminder and celebration of the role we have to protect our planet; and Stewardship Sunday, a day when we remind ourselves of our shared role as stewards of our present and of our future – all three share a mystery. This service will explore the connection.

If you happen to miss being in worship, the texts to previous sermon messages (and some of the readings as well) can be found in our website sermon archive.

Moving Us into Our Future: A Most Eggcellent Celebration!
This is the Sunday, April 21!  Be sure to come to our special celebration – a multigenerational worship service, a delicious luncheon provided by the Fellowship and your Board of Trustees, and many activities to choose from for the children and the adults.  See the schedule below.

As this is Stewardship Sunday when we receive the pledges from members and friends letting us know about their support for the Fellowship, you may want to read why others in the Fellowship give their support.  Reflections have been shared by Matt Cavalieri, Tom MoffitCandi Tomlinson, George Lentz, Janis Shinn, and Jennifer Davis (click the links to see their reflections).

The complete stewardship packet is available in the e-News, on our homepage in the Quick Links section, and on the counter near the name tags. Please deliver your completed pledge and volunteer forms on Sunday to the Pledge Central Booth or send them to Terrie Robbie, Treasurer at PO Box 41, Mt Pleasant, MI 48804-0041.

Path to Membership Workshop - April 20 & May 4

This workshop is designed for those who feel ready (or even somewhat ready) to make the membership commitment to UUFCM. In this interactive session we explore the deeper meanings and expectations of membership and shared ministry; it is a three-hour session beginning at 1 p.m. (may be a shorter timeframe if a small group). Refreshments and childcare will be provided. Please let us know one week prior to the class if you need childcare. For more info or to register for the workshop contact:

Fellowship Life Meeting - April 28

On the third Sunday of every month – immediately following our worship service – the UUFCM Board holds a brief Fellowship Life meeting to update the congregation on current happenings, plans and/or concerns within the congregation. The intention is for the meetings to be kept brief; the hope is for extended conversation to take place following the meeting during the coffee hour time. Please plan to attend.

This meeting will include the opportunity for questions about the proposed changes to our by-laws.

Young Adult Potluck - April 28

We gather to share a meal and engage in conversation and some game-playing or video watching (or whatever strikes our fancy) on the Last Sunday of the month at 5:30 p.m. in the UUFCM Social Hall. A main dish will be provided, all others may bring a snack/side dish/dessert to pass. But if you're short on time or energy to bring something, don't worry - please come anyway!

CUUPs Celebrates Beltane - April 28

Beltane is a time to celebrate fertility and the greening of the earth, to honor the arrival of spring and new life. We invite those of you who are interested in participating in this ritual to bring an item of food or drink to share at the potluck that follows the ceremony. We will gather at 6:30 pm and begin our ceremony promptly at 7:00 pm.

Baby Shower - May 5

On Sunday, May 5 immediately following the service we will have a baby shower for Charles Kenneth Emerick, son of Matthew and Elaine Emerick. Charlie was born March 1, a week before our originally scheduled baby shower! Now we are looking forward to getting acquainted with him and celebrating his life and gifts.

If you would like to help preparing the party, let Kris Los know; if you want to donate some money for a gift from the congregation, make a check out to Gisela Moffit (baby shower on subject line). They are registered at Amazon and at Target in case you want to pick out a gift from your family.

UUFCM Book Club - May 22

The book club voted on our next read. It is the award winning book “The Sparrow” by Mary Doria Russell. Is it science fiction or a philosophical genre? Nancy Pearl summarizes as " the nature of good and evil. What happens when a man tries to do the right thing, for the right reasons and ends up causing incalculable harm." Come join us May 22nd at 12:30 and bring your lunch. Normally we meet on the 3rd Wednesday of the month but can't due to a schedule conflict.

Application for Minister

If you would like to read the application materials that your Transition Team prepared and sent to start our application process for our new minister, two copies are available for you to look at near the name tags below the memorial tree. Please do not remove them from the church.

Lay Pastoral Care

During our transition, we will offer Lay Pastoral Care to anyone who is going through a difficult time. Gisela Moffit heads the Arms Around team, which provides transportation to doctor appointments, cards/emails/phone calls, preparing and delivering food for those recuperating. Carolyn Hancock will provide lay pastoral care for those who are hurting and need to talk to a caring person one-on-one. Contact Carolyn at 517-881-6006 for an appointment.

Save for This Year’s Garage Sale

As you are doing any early spring housecleaning and come across items you could donate to our biannual garage sale to be held this spring, please hold on to them for the time being.
