Turners Memorial and Taylor Well

Hurray! The Water Runs Again!

Hurray! At last the fountains at Turner’s Memorial and the Taylor Well are up and running – and should do be for some time (we hope).  It’s taken a long time and much patience has been needed so thanks to all the BTT members who have helped in various ways.

A very big thank you, too, to Nick Wood of Streamline Quality Builders and his colleagues who have helped enormously by installing the new pump along with all the equipment that we have installed to ensure that the waters keep flowing. Nick has donated hours of professional time to make sure that all is in good working order.

Can You Help Us Water the Plants?

Help Needed for a Couple of Weeks!

One of our members John, who looks after and waters the Waitrose flowers is going for 10 days from Wed 12th September. If you are able to help us and water the plants while he is away that would be greatly appreciated.

Christmas is Coming

Fundraising and Decoration Making for Christmas 2019 is Underway

Christmas is the next big push. We will be fundraising for more coloured Christmas lights and general decorations.  Buxton will be better than ever this year. With your help! We need keen fundraisers, diligent decoration makers, excellent electricians and perfect putter uppers – and take downers(!).

Please contact Steve if any of these appeal to you – or if you have some good ideas for a brilliant Buxton Christmas. Steve Bradshaw stevebradshaw96@yahoo.com

We are pleased to have been awarded £347 from Derbyshire CC Action Grant Programme towards the cost of Christmas decorations. Every little helps!
If you would like to help with making decorations and enjoy a bit of banter and laughter – no skill required and materials will be supplied just join us on Tuesdays in October at Hartington Gardens from 7pm.

The dates for October are: 7th, 15th, 22nd and 29th

If you would like to help, contact Tina on 01298 24219 heathcote.foxlow@btinterent.com

Neighbourhood Development Plan Latest

Public Meeting on Wed 18th September

A Community Interest Company called Buxton Neighbourhood Forum CIC has now been set up to allow the people of Buxton to produce a Neighbourhood Plan.

This is needed as the town is “not parished” - we have no town council, only a borough council. A Facebook page is going to be the “shop window”, please like, share and join it if you want to help support.

A public meeting to launch the plan has been organised for Wednesday 18 September, 7.30pm at St Anne's Community Hall on Hardwick Sq East. All are welcome to attend.

Thursday Night Action Group

Finished for 2019 as the nights draw in

A big thank you to the members who turned up on Thursday evenings through the summer to lop and chop, gather in decorations, clean out the basins of Turner’s Memorial, clean signs, pick up litter remove cable ties and string from things and oil benches – amongst other things!

Those sessions are now over until next year as the nights are drawing in.

Pump Room Live - 21st and 22nd September

Pump Room Live Needs Your Help

“Pump Room Live” is a free music festival for people of Buxton, another community event that makes our town special. Live music will be playing throughout the day on Saturday 21st September and Sunday 22nd September. Everything from pop music to brass bands, jazz to classical will be performed on the roof of the Pump Room. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come to The Slopes to enjoy the entertainment.

The organisers are looking for volunteers to help the public who attend. Marshals are wanted to help guide the public, advise on attendees of the programme and to be on hand to support the organisers.

Would you be able to offer some of your time to make this event a success?

You can sign up by clicking the button above. We have divided the time into 2-hour slots, you can select longer slots by ticking adjacent slots. We would like to get 8 marshals for each time slot - you can see the number of participants in each time slot at the top just below the times. You can return to the poll and amend your entry at any time.

When you click send, the organisers will immediately be informed that you are available on those times/days. You can amend it at any time. If you wish to add slots, remove slots or edit anything: go to the doodle poll (link above) above and hover over your name, you will see two symbols on the left: one for editing (the pencil) and one for deleting (the bin). When you click on the pencil, you have the ability to change things like your name and time slots. This way you can add / alter dates and times if you like.

A big thank you for considering this and we hope you’ll be able to help at Buxton’s special music event.
