Can you help?

The Dickensian Market takes place on 27th Nov from 10am-4pm and we have a stall that needs to be dressed and manned.

If you are willing / available to lend a hand, please let Steve know via the Action@ email.

Also, on the day any cakes, biscuits, preserves etc, please bring to the stall....

We hope to use the space to both raise some money and also to promote the Town Team and our various projects, as well as just join in and support the annual endeavour in the bounce back from Covid.
Buxton in Blooming Winter

Our team of baublers are hard at work on our Buxton in Blooming Winter decorations.

The decorations will go up later this on month so please come and help with dressing the town.
We will meet at Turner's memorial, on Thursday 18th Nov at 5.30pm. Please bring scissors.

If the weather is foul, the reserve day is Friday 19th 5.30pm.

The Town Trees with our multi coloured lights should be going up on the 15th/16th.

Lantern parade and Christmas lights switch on

Buxton Sparkles and the Town Team are holding the annual lantern parade on November 20th to tie in with the Buxton Christmas lights switch on.

If you would like to help by carrying an umbrella to light the way, helping push the music trolley or as a guide, please contact Andrea at buxtonsparkles@gmail.com Meet at 6.00 by the music trolley near Argos.

The procession will make it back in time for the big switch on at 7pm.
Ashwood Park - wildflower meadow

The wildflower meadow in Ashwood Park has now been cut and raked off, a key step in maintaining the meadow so that it flourishes again next year.

This year's growth needed to be cut and removed (after flowers have turned to seed) to minimise nutrients returning to the soil and encouraging grass to take over.

Meadow flowers prefer poorer soil. The raking also allows the seeds to enter the soil and germinate.
Slopes Team dates

The friendly team who can be seen helping look after the Slopes are always looking to welcome more volunteers to lend a hand

They meet on alternate Thursday and Saturday mornings at 10am at the Slopes car park at the Town Hall.

They will be meeting in November on Thursday 4th, Saturday13th, Thursday 18th and Saturday 27th.

If you want to lend a hand contact slopes@buxtontownteam.org  or action@buxtontownteam.org for more details

Access, Parking, Traffic and Transport update
Work continues with HPBC, DCC and Buxton schools to encourage walking and cycling to school as part of the government’s Modeshift STARS campaign – and our sustainable travel plan.
So, with Christmas in mind, we are asking children to count the tinsel stars that we will soon be putting up around town.
We are also working with High Peak Buses who are going to designate two town buses, and probably the Macclesfield bus, as ‘Buxton Christmas Shopping Buses’.
They are getting decals made of one of our stars to put them up in buses along with posters promoting Christmas in Buxton.
They are also going to put up Christmas in Buxton messages on the rolling screen at the front of the buses.
We are currently exploring new ideas around ‘last mile deliveries’ and also shortly meeting with Northern Rail to discuss bike trains.
This would enable people to travel down the line from Manchester, and beyond, with their bikes and then cycle into the National Park; having stopped for a bite to eat in Buxton before they set off!
If you are interested in working on the APTT project and the travel plan, please contact Tina at travel@buxtontownteam.org

Fairfield Road

Winter pansies have been prepared for the planters along Fairfield Road. In November these will be swapped, taking away the summer petunias that are struggling now the weather turns colder.
If you are planning a Town Team event later in year, that you want to add to the diary, please email me at diary@buxtontownteam.org

If you would like to give feedback on your monthly newsletter we'd love to hear from you, just use the e-mail address above; all feedback is appreciated!
