Buxton on the Move -

sustainable travel plan launched!
The consultation on the draft Sustainable Travel Plan for Buxton, was launched  on Saturday, with a sun drenched stall on Buxton Market.

Thanks to everyone who helped out on the day - and to everyone who stopped for a chat. We had a steady stream of visitors all day and gained some new members too!

Building on years of research, Buxton Town Team volunteers worked with residents, the University of Derby, local authorities and local organisations to produce this ambitious whole town sustainable travel plan for Buxton and we'd love to get your thoughts on it.

This draft and the comments received will work to form the final Sustainable Travel Plan which will be published in the Autumn.

You can get a copy of the draft plan by clicking here and comments can be given by clicking on the orange link at the bottom of each section on the document itself and there are more details on how to comment on page 4 too.
Come and join The Slopes team!
The Slopes team will be in action again this month when hopefully the weather will be a bit dryer.

The Slopes Team meets on alternate Thursday and Saturday mornings at 10am at the Slopes car park at the Town Hall. The next few meetings are on Thurs 3 June, Sat 12 June, Thurs 17 June and Sat 26 June.

They're a friendly bunch - as you can see from the photo below.

If you want to get involved or want more information email

New time for Slopes About Town
With the lighter night the Slopes About Town team is meeting slightly later.

It will meet every Thursday evening, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm,  weather permitting, at various venues around town.

Recent work has included weeding and tidying up the area near Morrisons roundabout. (see photos below)

If you are interested in joining them contact or
Ashwood Park Centenary
This year marks the centenary of Ashwood Park.  Originally it was part of the grounds of a private house - Wye Bridge House (now the pub of the same name); then later the Midlands before it was bought by Buxton Corporation in 1921.

If you have any information of photos of the park over the years - or know of someone who does - please let us know:
Ashwood Park turf recycled!
Never one a leave a stone - or in this case piece of turf - unturned the BTT Ashwood Park  team has found a new home for the turf which was taken up

Not wanting to see the turf go to waste, it has been taken up to Buxton Cemetery and will be re-used there.
WANTED: Space to store decorations

BTT needs some storage space, ideally near the centre of Buxton to store our Summer and Christmas decorations and potentially our Gardening Tools. A large shed or storeroom would be ideal.

We currently have them safe and sound but out of town and it is an arrangement which will need to change fairly soon.

Any members who can help please email
Water in Buxton Supplementary Planning Document
HPBC would like your feedback on the draft Water in Buxton Supplementary Planning Document (SPD). The document provides guidance to ensure that development preserves the quality of water resources within the Buxton Sub-area and supports water efficiency. The SPD is supported by a Strategic Environmental Assessment Screening (SEA) Report which considers whether the SPD should be subject to a detailed Environmental Assessment under the Environmental Assessment of Plans and Programmes Regulations 2004.
The deadline for comments is 6pm on Friday 18th June.
Following the consultation, the Council will review any comments before deciding whether to adopt the SPD.
