Your Final Update of 2019

Christmas is Nearly Upon Us

Our crowdfunding campaign is now complete

Our crowdfunding for more Christmas lights decorations for this year is now complete. Buxton will be brighter and better than ever this year.

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated, shared the campaign and helped in any way.

We raised an amazing £1352.00 through our crowdfunder this year and we could not have done it without you.

Our decorations are now out!

Please also don't forget to note Sunday 5th Jan in your diary if you are able to spare a couple of hours to help take down the decorations post Christmas. We will be meeting at 10am at Turners Memorial.

STOP THE PRESS! Our Joint End of Year Celebration Has a New Date!

Sunday 5th January - 19:30 till 22:00 - Green Man Gallery

Buxton is blessed with a culture of active volunteering which makes an enormous difference to the quality of life in our lovely town. Three volunteer run groups are coming together to celebrate the fun we have had and the things we have achieved in 2019 and to look forward to what else we will be getting up to, together and separately in 2020.

On Sunday 5th January mostly we will be playing, eating, drinking, and enjoying good company. So, whether you have done lots or a little, or just fancy a good night out, come along with some food and drink to share and join in. Please label food with ingredients.

This event is co-hosted by Transition Buxton, Buxton Town Team and the newly formed Buxton Neighbourhood Forum. Newcomers welcome.

The previous date for this event was Tue 10th December, please disregard this date.

We hope to see you there!

Spring Bulb Planting

Fairfield Road

With Winter fast upon us, Buxton Town Team volunteers led by Richard Lower have been our planting Spring bulbs in the planters along Fairfield Road.

In total 3200 bulbs and 300 pansies were planted ready for Spring and to provide some colour through the Winter!

The winter-flowering pansies will hopefully provide some colour in the planters during the next few months, and come the spring the bulbs in the planters and verges will brighten up this Gateway to Buxton.

Thank you to everyone who helped!

Spring Bulb Planting

WW1 Commerative Garden

The gardening team from the WW1 Commemorative Garden recently teamed up with the Buxton Town Team to plant spring bulbs in the WW1 garden in Sparrow Park.

Kindly sponsored by Bradburys Cheese the teams planted bulbs to echo the theme of symbolism around which the 'Poppy' Garden is designed. In the garden there are now over 100 plants of Crocus (Youthfulness for the young men who went off to war) English bluebells (Humility) Red and white Tulips and blue muscari (love, worthiness and confidence) Snowdrops (hope) and Daffodils (new beginnings).
These will compliment the 'Poppy' garden itself which was created in 2014.

Thank you to everyone who helped!

Turner's Memorial is lit once again

Have you spotted it yet?

Finishing on another refreshingly bright note this month.

Turner’s Memorial is now lit once again thanks to the good offices of Streamline Quality Builders (Nick Wood, owner, and Darren electrician) and Trevor Zoppi.

Thank you for your continued support and work!
