Your March / April 2020 Newsletter


In light of the ongoing national emergency Buxton Town Team has suspended all events and meetings for the foreseeable future.

This situation is a changing rapidly, so it is difficult to plan ahead with any certainty.  Directors met (virtually) on May 6 and are due to meet again (virtually) on June 17 and will keep you informed of any updates.
The General Meeting will be re-arranged once restrictions are lifted. 
The accounts have been agreed - and can be viewed on the Buxton Town Team website.

Future High Streets Fund 
High Peak Borough Council is due to publish revised plans on Monday 11 May, with comments invited by May 18, before the submission is agreed by councillors. 
Some welcome changes have been made to the original plans and Directors will be meeting (virtually) representatives from the Council to discuss the revised plans.
The deadline for submitting the business case to the government is June 5.

The Crescent
Work is progressing on The Crescent, with gravel being laid on the entrance road.

Lockdown events in Buxton 

While we may all still be confined to quarters, except for essential trips and daily exercise, there is still plenty going on it and around the town.
Monday 11 May - Buxton & Leek College - Virtual Country Fair
The College is hosting a variety of family-friendly competitions which have been specially designed to showcase the talents of its brilliant apprentices- who have each come up with the ideas for the events and will be helping judge entries.
All of these competitions are completely free to enter for all ages. Full details on the BLC website
Hanging baskets
John Goddard is seeking volunteers to water the hanging baskets along the Waitrose entrance to the Springs shopping centre which are due to be put up towards the end of May.
It takes approximately 20 minutes per day, depending on the weather. You will be needed either for a couple of nights each week or on a week on, week off basis.

Some wonderful Flower Pot People have now taken up residence in the town, for more details about where to find them click Flower Pot Trail 2020   There is a map to take you around those already on show - and instructions on how to make your own flower pot person!

Plans are progressing too for Buxton in Bloom 2020, which has fledged from a BTT project, thanks to Gary Nadin and his team of volunteers   - look out for the launch of the Buxton in Bloom 2020 Facebook page.
