Access, Parking, Traffic and Transport update
The final stages of the Buxton Sustainable Travel Plan are nearing completion. The responses have been very positive, and we look forward out rolling out a range of actions in the New Year.
The stars are out on High Peak Christmas Shopping Buses. Look out for the 185 and 186 with Buxton Stars on the side window
This ties in with school children being encouraged, through the national ModeShift STARS campaign to count the Town Team tinsel stars as they walk, cycle or bus to school – rather than going by car.
We have just held a very useful meeting of the Buxton Workplace Travel Forum, with a good attendance of Buxton businesses via Teams. We host this jointly with Derbyshire CC. Lots of interest and willingness to work together.
We are hoping to hold a face-to-face meeting of the whole APTT group on Dec 10th but will, of course, be guided by the science and may need to resort to Zoom. There is much to report and discuss and we expect a good attendance.
E-cargo bike deliveries:
Currently operating with Day Zero who now supply veg boxes, are making steady progress but would be pleased to be doing more deliveries in Buxton. If you know of anyone who could use a very sustainable delivery system, please let us know!
Buxton Car Club:
Based at Buxton Station, the Car Club has seen a steady take up of both the car and van and would like to see more Buxtonians using the Club.
We have been offered a very generous rate for residents of £10 for first year’s membership (normally £60) from Enterprise Car Club. To take up the offer go to their website and use the code: BUXTON10
Walking Group Leaders
Walking Group Leaders are being sought to lead short walks in Buxton (30mins-60mins) probably in Pavilion Gardens with that being a base for loos and also a coffee after the walk.
If you would like to be part of a team to do that, please contact Ross Jillings, Lead Walking Officer HPBC: Tel: 07581017332 Email: ross.jillings@highpeak.gov.uk
