Can you help?

We need you!

This month we have two things (amongst many more) that we really need some help with!

1. Do you have any old Christmas themed jumpers and/or pairs of old walking boots or wellingtons? We're recycling for Christmas! If you can help, please contact Debbie on or call 07733112859.

2. Can you help us with some straightforward data entry into Excel? Our fantastic member Helen has been collating information from local businesses and we really need some help inputting it into an easy digital format. Straightforward data entry into Excel is the order of the day and if you can help, please get in touch with Tina on or simple reply to this e-mail for more details.

Christmas is Coming

Fundraising and Decoration Making for Christmas 2019 is Underway

We are pushing on and our plans for Christmas are coming together. We are  fundraising for more coloured Christmas lights and general decorations. Buxton will be brighter and better than ever this year but we can only do it with your help! We need keen fundraisers, diligent decoration makers, excellent electricians and perfect putter uppers – (and take downers!).

Please contact Steve if you can help or have any special expertise that will help us on our way – or if you have some good ideas for a brilliant Buxton Christmas even better. Get in touch with Steve

We are pleased to have been awarded £347 from Derbyshire CC Action Grant Programme towards the cost of Christmas decorations. Every little helps!

We have a date for your diary too; the 31st November. On this Saturday we plan to get all our Christmas decorations up around the town. We'd be grateful if you can help and more details will follow in next months newsletter.
If you would like to help with making decorations and enjoy a bit of banter and laughter – no skill required and materials will be supplied just join us on Tuesdays in October at Hartington Gardens from 7pm.

The dates for October are: 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th

PS - This takes place in the Round Room at Hartington Gardens which is just up the foot/wheelchair access ramp at the bottom of Fountain Street.

Connex Community Angels

Crochet and Knitting Opportunity

Can you help crochet and knit Christmas angels? The Angels will be placed around Buxton on each Sunday of advent for people to collect and take home or to pass on to someone who may like one. The Angels will each have a small label and on this there will be a Christmas wish from the Church and a bit about Connex's Befriending service.

Their aim is to make 1000 angels. They are very easy to make and they are great for using up odd bits of wool. Clicking on the links below will take you to the knitting and crochet patterns.

Crochet Pattern 2

Please also put a loop on the top of the angel so that they can be easily hung up, the pattern doesn’t state this, so please don't forget!

A handy tip that was learnt from last year is that cotton wool balls were just the right size for an angels head, however, cotton wool doesn’t do so well in the rain! So please use toy stuffing, this is available at Connex or the Methodist Church on the Market if anyone would like some to use.

Thank you to Nestle Water Volunteers!

Bridge Painting on 2nd October

We'd like to say a huge thank you to Katie and the volunteers from Nestle Water who were out painting the bridges in the Pavilion Gardens yesterday!

As you can see from the before and after shots below, the difference and improvement is huge. The bridge looks fantastic, so make sure to have a look next time you are heading through the park.

Thanks again to all those involved with making this happen including High Peak Borough Council for giving us permission and paint and also to The Pavilion Gardens for providing lunch for the volunteers and last but not least to Friends of the Pavilion Gardens for removing some stray padlocks!

Pump Room Live - 21st and 22nd September

Thank you for your help!

Thank you to everyone who helped a Pump Room Live. Hundreds of people came and enjoyed this free music event. The support from Town Team members was greatly appreciated by everyone.

That's all for now. As ever there's more information about what is going on, on the website and on our Facebook page, and specifically for upcoming events, don't forget the diary.

If you have a Town Team event that you want to add to the diary, please email me at

If you would like to give feedback on your monthly newsletter we'd love to hear from you, just use the e-mail address above; all feedback is appreciated!

Hope to see you soon,
