Sustainable Travel

Buses – do you use them?  If not, why not?  If you do, do they go where you want to go or are there other routes / destinations which would help?  What ideas do you have to enhance the Buxton service?
We have a meeting with High Peak Buses in mid September (date to be confirmed) and it would be helpful to have your input, please.  Just drop a line with you thoughts to Tina:  heathcote.foxlow@btinternet.com

Buxton Walk & Ride Network
Yes, we are still working on this, and good progress is being made behind the scenes.  We are fortunate to have the support of officers from both Borough and County Council on this and they are doing great background work.  Some members of the travel project have twice met with councillors recently to walk sections of the proposed routes in the Pavilion Gardens and the Serpentine and also Temple Fields from Green Lane and London Road.  Councillors are supportive of the Network and we were pleased to be able to meet with them and respond to queries and suggestions.
100 Year Poppy Installation

You may recall that in July we asked for the knitters and crocheters among you to make red flowers approx. 3”in diameter – and were a bit mysterious about what they were intended for...

To commemorate the opening of the Poppy Factory in 1922 we are making a display of poppies to be sited on The Slopes.  We are working with our Friends of Buxton Station who rescued the wreaths from the War Memorial last year, which were on their way to the tip, and took off all the poppies.  We have washed them and are going to mount them on hoops, along with the ones being knitted and crocheted.  Several hoops will be linked together to form a zero six feet across.  Well, two zeros and then we will construct a frame for the number one to scale with the zeros to form 100.  And if we have sufficient help and enough poppies we have further ideas for the installation.

Please help!  If you can spare the odd hour to help with construction, do join us any time between 2.30 and 4.00 on any Monday or Tuesday afternoon in the Barn at Foxlow Farm SK17 9LE.  If you would like a lift just contact Tina: :  heathcote.foxlow@btinternet.com   Oh, and we are making a start on the Christmas decorations, too!

Regency Ball Fundraiser

Buxton’s first Regency Ball in 200 years is a sell out.

This exciting event is a fundraiser for Buxton Town Team and the Crescent Heritage Trust.

The Ball will take place at the Crescent on 17th September.

Amnesty for high vis

BTT has a number of high vis jackets that volunteers wear when working.

Over the years the number we have available has fallen as they have not always been returned after events.

Can you please all take a minute to check your cupboards and coat racks to see if you have one.

Potters on Terrace Road have kindly agreed to act as a collection point.

Many thanks in advance. .
Buxton Town Team - how you can help us

BTT is aware that while many of its members are ready, willing and able to help out in very practical ways through our groups and projects; this may not be everyone's cup of tea.

So if you would like to help our projects in a practical but less active way - why not make  a donation to BTT.  Our bank details are below.
