Dear Faith Family,

It’s Friday of Passion Week, but Easter Sunday is coming!!

It was on Friday that Jesus was betrayed, abandoned, and arrested.  The chief priests and Sanhedrin had secretly gathered under cover of darkness.  Before 8:00 AM, Jesus had been tried, convicted, and sentenced to death by crucifixion.

Mark’s Gospel tells us (Mark 15:25) that it was “the third hour when they crucified him.”  For the Jewish people, the first hour of the day was 6:00 AM.  So, Jesus was crucified around 9:00 AM, and he breathed his last breath during the ninth hour or 3:00 PM (Mark 15:34).

The evening came quickly on that Friday!  Sabbath began at sundown, and Jesus’ body needed to be prepared for burial.  Joseph of Arimathea was permitted to take Jesus from the cross and put him in a nearby tomb.  Mary and a few other women watched to see where Jesus was laid.  The tomb was securely sealed with a stone, and soldiers were sent to guard it!

Can you imagine the feelings of grief that must have consumed all who loved Jesus?  The fear, the emptiness, and the raw uncertainty of what to do next.  As Friday comes to an end, death appears victorious!  Hope seems to be gone!

But Sunday is coming!

I hope you will plan to join us this Sunday to celebrate our Risen Lord! Please invite your family, friends, and neighbors to join us!  Here is a quick reminder of our schedule:

9:30 AM - 10:30 AM - Church-Wide Breakfast Fellowship

Instead of gathering for Sunday school, we will gather for a pot-luck breakfast!  Please bring your favorite breakfast dish to share, and let’s enjoy a time of fellowship!

10:20 AM - Childcare Check-In Opens

We will be providing childcare for babies - kindergarten during our worship service.  Grade School children will have Easter activity bags provided in the Worship Center foyer!

10:45 AM - Easter Worship

We can’t wait to worship together this Sunday!

You are loved!

Pastor Chris

Worship Center Upgrades

We are excited to finally be getting our new projectors and screens installed in the Worship Center.  They have been working on it this week and should have everything done by Sunday.  The screens will be moved inward and will be upgraded with new technology.

We are so thankful for your faithful stewardship and contributions to our General Budget.   These improvements were part of our annual budgeting process and made possible through your generosity!

Operation Christmas Child (OCC)

The Senior Adult Ministry is sponsoring Operation Christmas Child (OCC) shoeboxes during 2022.  The suggested items for April are flashlights and jump ropes.

Senior Tuesdays

Please join us on Tuesdays from 2-4. We are busy making gifts for children around the world as we fill Operation Christmas Child boxes with a few extra items. We are learning to make beanie hats on a knitting loom, rubber band salvation bracelets, and we will be making jump ropes out of t-shirts. We need donations of old t-shirts. We are also making baby blankets out of loop it yarn to donate to new baby families.

Dominoes & puzzle tables are also available for those who just want to fellowship together.

LLL Veterans Recognition Program

We will be recognizing all veterans during our LLL Veterans Recognition Program on Tuesday, May 10th at noon in the HUB.  If you are a veteran, we would like for you to contact Susan Malone with your name, contact information and branch of military service.  You can email me at susan@firsthewitt.org or 254-716-1724.

SECRET CHURCH - SIMULCAST

Secret Church is a unique, one-night event that will be streamed online to more than 50,000 participants around the world. Encouraged by our persecuted brothers’ and sisters’ example, we will meet for close to 6 hours for intense study of God’s Word and passionate prayer for the persecuted.

The topic of the study this year is:  Who Am I?

Life seems complicated these days. Fragmented even. And everyone has an opinion. But what does the Bible say about all of these issues? About YOU? About ME? About the 7 billion people that fill every street, town, campus, village, apartment, and neighborhood on earth?

Gender. Sexuality. Artificial Intelligence. Race. Justice. Genomics. The Metaverse.

April Prayer Focus & Bible Reading Plan

Each month, we as a church family are seeking to consistently read God's Word and pray for the Gospel to be known in different parts of the world.  Our April edition of Together for the Gospel is now available at the church or by clicking here

Our prayer focus for the month of April is:  North Africa.

B & K have asked us to pray this week for a new media campaign that is encouraging people to begin reading God's Word.  These ads are running in some of the least reached places in the region.  Pray for open hearts and minds to these ads.  Ask God to use this media campaign to draw people to a closer relationship with Him!

Annie Armstrong Easter Offering

The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering (AAEO) is the primary way we support mission efforts in North America. One hundred percent of gifts given to AAEO are used to support more than 2,200 missionary families serving across the United States and Canada.

Every gift to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering – 100 percent – goes to train, resource and send thousands of missionaries involved in church planting and compassion ministries across the United States, Canada and their territories. Our partnership with Southern Baptist Convention churches and individuals makes this work possible.

For more information about the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, please click here

If you would like to contribute towards the AAEO, you may do so by designating a gift online (click HERE) or by designating your gift in the memo of your check.

This Summer, we've got an exciting opportunity for families of all ages and sizes to serve together.  Are single, retired, a family of 2, or a family of many more?  This trip is for you!

We have worked out a partnership with Glorieta Camps in New Mexico to spend a week (July 2-8) on campus helping them with a variety of projects.  Glorieta is an incredible place with a rich heritage of transforming lives with the Gospel.  Our team will mobilize families to help with painting, minor repairs, cleaning, organizing, and any other projects on campus.

It is a beautiful place and perfect for families to serve together!  The cost of the trip will be around $500 per family and lesss for couples or singles.  This includes:  lodging, food, and supplies.  It doesn't cover the cost of travel to and from Glorieta or any excursions or extra activities while there.  If you'd like more information or to sign up, please fill out the registration form below!
