Dear Faith Family,

How sweet it was Sunday night to see our preschool and kindergarten children engaged in prayer stations.  They didn’t know the fancy words, but they were practicing adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication through hands on stations.  We’re never too young to talk to God, and thankfully, we’re never too old either.  Hopefully our young friends are learning from a tender age how to talk to God anytime and anywhere.  And hopefully, we haven’t forgotten what a privilege it is to talk to God anytime and anywhere.  This year as we focus on prayer and what God might do through a people who pray, have you had any new insights into this gift we’ve been given?

A few years ago the topic of Secret Church was Prayer & Fasting.  I heard something that night that I wrote in my prayer journal that reminds me of the importance of prayer, because it’s easy to become lazy in prayer, especially when things seem to be going well.

Prayer is the weapon to wield when we go into spiritual battles, and we are fools to go in without it.  There is no part of this world that our adversary does not want to influence.  There is a conflict between the true God over this world and the false gods of this world that is raging every single day in the way we spend our time, how we spend our money, what we look at on our phones, how we raise our kids, the tone of voice we use with our spouse, what we do when we think no one else is watching, every aspect of our lives.  At every moment there is a little “g” god of this world set up against the capital “G” God over this world, and the little “g” god wants to wreck your marriage, destroy your relationships, steal your purity, compromise your integrity, and at all costs prevent you and me from spreading the good news of eternal life to those who are on a road to eternal death.  We are all involved in a spiritual war all the time.  You cannot ignore this war.  If you try to ignore this war and sit back in a lazy, comfortable Christianity, pretending like there is no struggle to be had or war to be fought, you will not stand.

There is so much to bring before the Lord and lay at His feet.  Will you join me in prayer?

Blessings,

Michelle Schlappe
