Dear Faith Family,

I love the dawn of a new year! It represents a new beginning and a fresh start. After a month of Christmas celebrations, the new year allows us to reset. It gives us the opportunity to reflect and re-establish the rhythms of life that God has called us to pursue.

As I think about the year ahead of us, I am convinced that God is calling our faith family into A YEAR OF PRAYER. I believe that 2023 needs to be a year where we intentionally, consistently, and boldly seek the Lord. I truly believe that God desires to do an incredible work in and through this outpost of the Kingdom known as First Baptist Church Hewitt. There are lives that He wants to transform, hearts that He wants to shape, and lost souls that He wants to save. But, this will not happen in our own strength or ability. It will only happen as God pours out His Spirit, and we boldly obey His voice.

So…. I want to invite you to join me this year in the steadfast pursuit of God in prayer and the Word. In the months ahead, we will have special gatherings to pray, intentional moments in our worship services, monthly prayer focuses that will feature local and international missions, and personal prayer resources curated by our staff.

I am writing this today with a heart filled with eager expectations. I don’t know all that God has planned for us in 2023, but it could truly be the most transformative years in the life of our church. Will you join me in making 2023 a year of prayer?

PS. Mark your calendars for a night of Worship & Prayer on Sunday, January 22 @ 5 PM. Children and Youth ministries will launch at normal times and places, but all adults will meet in Worship Center for a night of Worship & Prayer.

Quarterly Business Meeting
Join us this Sunday, January 22, @ 4 PM for our next regularly scheduled Quarterly Business Meeting. We will hear brief reports from our staff and vote on two important matters. These include the election of one trustee to fill a 3-year term and a recommendation regarding selling our church bus.

IMPACT WEEKEND - January 13-15

It’s that time again for one of our students’ favorite events, IMPACT Weekend. This year’s theme is TOGETHER. In our culture today, there is more division than there is unity. In all the division, the Gospel speak a profound truth: In Christ, we are united. We are together. We want to teach the students to embrace a Christ-Centered Community. We will be partnering with a few other churches in the area to encourage unity and togetherness in Christ. Those churches are Brazos Meadows BC, FBC China Springs, and Columbus Avenue BC.

2022 Giving Statements
Thank you so much for your generosity and faithfulness in 2022. We are currently in the process of finalizing giving statements and plan to complete this by next week. Printed copies will be available in the foyer on Sunday, January 15 and 22. We will mail any giving statements that have not been picked up on January 31.

Grief Share
Grief recovery groups beginning Wednesday, February 1st at 2pm. Call 254.666.2741 to make reservations and reserve a workbook.

Senior Tuesdays meet Tuesday at 2PM

50+ Winter Retreat at Latham Springs
The 50+ Winter Retreat at Latham Springs is scheduled for Thursday, January 19th. If you would like to attend, please call the church office before Sunday, January 15th.

Parents' Night Out
The Senior Adult Ministry will be sponsoring a Parents' Night Out for babies through 5th grade on Friday, January 27th from 6-9pm. Call the church office to sign up by January 22nd. Pizza dinner will be provided.

Branson
The senior adult ministry will be taking a bus trip to the Branson Show Extravaganza in September. The cost is $750 per person based on double occupancy. This includes 6 days and 5 nights, leaving on Monday, September 11 and returning on Saturday September 16. Deposit of $75 is due with registration by Wednesday, February 1st. The final payment is due July 4th. A payment plan will be available beginning in March. Please contact Susan Malone to reserve your spot, as 53 total seats are available. You do NOT have to be a member of First Hewitt to travel with us.
