<<First Name>>,

Thursday was a big milestone at KC Girls Prep! After more than three years of planning, we began enrollment for our Founding Class of 2027!

As excited as we feel, our sense of gratitude is even deeper. Because of the many voices helping to design our school, we know the bar for our students is higher than college success.

We have heard again and again that families' real goal is for their daughters to use their voice for positive change in Kansas City and our world. As we talk with our founding families and students, we're keeping in mind the future we're preparing them for. It's no accident we're focusing on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) combined with rigorous learning about the deepest values and wisdom traditions from around the globe.

When we look to the future, we see huge opportunities and challenges for our students. Our founding fifth graders will celebrate their 35th birthdays when the U.S. becomes a "majority minority" country (US Census), their 50th birthdays when artificial intelligence is projected to surpass human intelligence by several orders of magnitude (Muller and Bostrom 2013), and their 90th birthdays when New York City is projected to be under more than 20 meters of water (IPCC 2019).

What the future will bring is not yet written -- these are projections, not guarantees. But we know one thing: our students can and must lead for positive and equitable change for all. To do that, they must be fluent in the language of math and science while also developing social intelligence and knowledge of the economics, politics, and culture that lie beneath our greatest opportunities and obstacles.

Today, as we invite our first group of students to join us, we feel more committed than ever to ensuring they have access to rich learning in social justice and STEAM to position them to lead for positive change.

And we feel clearer than ever that our students' success must be grounded in a deeply interdependent relationship with the community we serve.

We feel so grateful for this opportunity to support our young women's growth, and for the trust you are placing in us to do so.

Thank you,
Tara
