From the Mayor's Desk

Power in certain areas of the Park has come back online since this morning. However, at the time of this publication, O&R has not committed to a timeline for total power restoration in the Park. Please sign up for "Code Red" text and email notifications from the Village here. Trustee Gluck and I will be meeting with O&R representatives next week to discuss ways to better serve the Park. I have included O&R's recent  public update below.

PEARL RIVER, NY, May 17, 2018 11:15 a.m. --- Nearly 600 O&R company and contractor overhead line and tree removal crews fanned out through the utility’s service region today to repair damage and restore power to approximately 10,600 remaining customers whose power was knocked out by Tuesday’s destructive thunderstorms.
So far, O&R has restored power to about 60,000 customers who lost service in the severe storms. More than 90 percent of the customers affected by storm damage have been restored to service in Rockland and Bergen counties. Orange County is due to reach the 90 percent mark later today. Most of Passaic County is expected be restored later today as well, and virtually all Sussex County customers who were able to be restored to service have been restored.
The vast majority of customers in Sullivan County should expect power to be restored by Sunday afternoon. O&R’s electrical system in that area was severely damaged and requires massive cleanup and reconstruction. Crews are working methodically there by first clearing and opening roads, addressing downed wires and then making repairs to transmission and distribution circuits. Here are the outage numbers by county at 11:15 a.m. For the latest outage numbers, please go to O&R’s Outage Map:
Orange – 4,722, Sullivan - 5,166, Rockland – 536, Bergen – 134, Passaic – 82, Sussex - 2
To assist those customers who will be out of service for the longest amount of time, O&R has distributed 38,000 pounds of dry ice among the following locations:
Forestburgh Firehouse
2539 State Route 42
Forestburgh, NY 12777
Mamakating Town Hall
2948 Route 209
Wurtsboro, NY 12790
Fort Montgomery Municipal Parking Lot
130 Firefighters Memorial Drive
Fort Montgomery, NY 10922
Lumberland Town Hall
1054 Proctor Road
Glen Spey, NY 12737
Customers picking up dry ice should carefully follow the safe handling and disposal instructions printed on the paper bag containing the ice. Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide and should be kept away from children and pets and used only in well-ventilated areas.
