AUGUST 2019 UPDATE

Seventh-Grade Students Ace Mock National Exams!

Top Two Students in District from Precious

Precious English Medium Primary School boasts the two top-scoring seventh-grade students on the mock national exams in the district. The district is made up of 164 schools and 9,500 students. Nelson Greyson, who attends the Precious School on a scholarship from The Foundation For Tomorrow placed first in the district. He joined the Precious School this past January when his previous school had been closed down by the government. Nelson and 12 other students from that school were taken in by Precious and are boarding in the new dormitories.

Joshua Mika placed second in the Mock National Exams and also had A’s in every subject. All eleven seventh-grade students passed the mock national exams and all will be sitting for the national exams on September 11 and 12. These exams are so important because failing them will prevent students from continuing with their education in Tanzania.

Last year, Precious Project supported building dormitories for the purpose of boarding the fourth and seventh-grade students. These students receive extra tutoring to prepare them for the national exams. The dormitories are now also boarding the 13 students from the other school that had closed – so it ended up being a stroke of good fortune for both Precious and the displaced students that the dormitories were available this year.
