School News

Term two ended with a lot of happy feelings, with a strong sense of community and friendship. This term we celebrated the birthdays of two children. Birthdays are celebrated in Kindy with reverence, and a beautiful story of each child’s biography is shared, as well as a birthday cake that the children make and decorate. Term two also saw us welcome two more students and it has been lovely to be able to offer this education to more children. The children busily prepared for their winter festival making paper lanterns and decorating candles with gold beeswax.
The experience of sharing a winter spiral walk was a beautiful, inward experience, where each child was able to kindle their own light in community.
We also shared a puppet story, lantern making workshop and bread baking in the outdoor oven at the Lost Plot community garden, to celebrate the midwinter. It was wonderful to connect with the wider community. The children have been enjoying their outdoor playtime, making mud pies and cakes and also taking a long walk each week through Kooloonbung Nature reserve. We’ve been busy making bread, and apple crumble each week as well as our stone soup and porridge. We look forward to what the spring term might bring - warmth and little wattle suns. Kristy

What a lovely term playgroup has had, with the children playing happily in the sand pit and garden, while mums are doing some sewing. A felt needle case was the first project, following with a little winter gnome - lots of creativity!

This term our stories have been The Gingerbread Man and The Three Bears, the children living into the stories as they are told.

Each week as the playgroup families gather together, a stronger sense of community is growing; it is beautiful. I hope everyone has a restful mid-winter holiday. Looking forward to playgroup resuming in Term 3.

Our school is growing and if you or anyone you know are interested to find out more about our 2019 intake please contact us. We encourage families to express their interest early so that we can gauge class numbers and allocate our limited number of spaces in these classes. In coming months we will be holding information sessions additional to the one scheduled for 10th August for families to find out more about Steiner Education and 2019 at Port Macquarie Steiner School. Please contact or call
0475 083 956 during school hours if you would like more information.
