Welcome to Spring
September 2018
2019 Enrolments Open
Enrolments are open for 2019 Kindergarten, Class 1 and 2. Places in these classes are strictly limited. Class 2 will be dependant on numbers so to ensure your child's place on the waiting list please request a pre-enrolment form. We will be holding a number of Information Sessions in coming months to meet our Kindergarten teacher, learn more about Steiner Education and tour our school. Our next one takes place Friday 26th October at 1pm.
We're very pleased to announce we received our official NESA registration for the Kindergarten, Class 1 and Class 2. It's exciting to see the school grow organically with our vision to become a full primary school over coming years. We look forward to welcoming children into our 2019 classes.
Kindergarten News
With laughter and singing,
The green earth is springing,
The shepherd is piping,
‘Again it is spring’
Spring is upon us and the kindy children definitely have a spring in their feet, enjoying rope skipping daily, and have been involved in a lot of gardening. The parents helped recently at a working bee at school and together we have planted flowers and fruit trees; lemon, mandarin, orange, mulberry, strawberry guava, raspberries, blueberries and passionfruit vines..! Sounds like the beginnings of a food forest! We look forward to caring for these plants and observing the wonderful visitors they will attract. Birds, butterflies, blue tongues, dragonflies and bees are all common in our garden now. We were fortunate and grateful to welcome the help of Mark and Ruth Gallagher on our planting day to help us with a Biodynamic stir, who told the parents all about BD preparations. The children helped to spray it around our garden, so we can even say that our school is now BD!
Recently we also had a visit from mentor Lana Risi, from the AARSECE, who is a highly experienced Steiner Early Childhood educator based in Coffs Harbour. She spent a day in the kindergarten, and convened an interesting community information session after school. The following morning she offered a wet-felting craft workshop to parents and friends. We all got a lot out of her visit, and thank her for her time.

This week, our term ends with our Spring Festival and Picnic. The children have been busy learning songs and verses about the springtime, preparing springtime crafts, and even a Maypole dance to share with our parent and family community. We have also been raising our own silk worms, watching them hatch and grow. Apart from spotting more Koalas on our weekly walk to Kooloonbung last week, we were very fortunate to find a mulberry tree, which was fortuitous, as we have observed that the silkworms are always very hungry!
Wishing you a lovely springtime term break.
 Playgroup News
Thankyou to all the families who  have joined Playgroup this term. We have enjoyed beautiful days in the garden together.
A big thankyou for all the lovely plants that were gifted to the  school garden, each family planting their plants, we will watch as they grow and flourish. We enjoyed our Springtime festival this week, coming together to make beautiful flower garlands and enjoy a shared morning tea of yummy delights. The children then went on a treasure hunt in the sand pit finding special gems.
Thankyou to all the families for coming along every week, looking forward to more beautiful mornings together in term 4, Kylie.

Board News

Two new board members have joined the hard-working team. Ruth Gallagher was elected at the AGM in July and Fred Buys joined us at the August meeting. Ruth has already been working for the organisation on the School Management Committee for several months. She has a long background in human resources and management at TAFE colleges, is a dedicated student of anthroposophy, and ran with her husband, Mark, a biodynamic citrus orchard on the north coast before retiring to Kendall.

Fred has a background in business, project management, and planning. He has a civil engineering degree and has already been helpful with marketing. He is husband to Elma and father of the twins in the kindergarten.

In addition to making preparations to hire a new teacher for the Class 1 and 2 next year, and planning for how to accommodate a second class of children in the hall, the board is continuing in our search for an appropriate site for our future school. We have had a meetings with the director of strategic planning at Port Macquaire Hastings Council, a local landowner, and architects with experience in Steiner School designs. We are staying open to the vision of the school which is coming towards us from the future.

In preparation for that on a financial side, we would like to set up a registered building fund and are seeking individuals of good standing in our community to join the fund management committee. If you are interested or know someone who might be interested in helping with this important task towards growing our school, please contact Cheryl on 6551 8926, or

A little seed for me to sow.
A little earth to make it grow.
A little hole, a little pat,
a little wish, and that is that.
A little sun, a little shower
a little while, and then a flower
