Protecting Groundwater from the Negative Effects of Wildfire Season 

Wildfires are one of nature's most destructive forces. Last year, they caused an estimated $180 billion in property loss, business closures, firefighting and rehabilitation costs in California. The thick smoke, soot and ash can also harm a community's water supply. The video above shows a contaminated flow from a recent fire in the nearby mountains. San Bernardino Valley Water Conservation District quickly diverted the flow so it did not contaminate the water in our groundwater basins.

Zoo Researchers Provide Insight into Kangaroo Rat Habitat Needs

Staff recently held a tailgate with some of the research staff from the San Diego Zoo Foundation to learn more about the San Bernardino kangaroo rat at the Wash. Zoo staff are researching factors that influence habitat suitability. Staff from Inland Empire Resource Conservation District were also invited to attend.  


Big water moves mark Gov. Jerry Brown’s final months

Gov. Jerry Brown now only has a few months before relinquishing his post, and he's trying almost desperately, to move the Delta tunnel project -- called WaterFix -- forward.
