Fostering Community Conversations on Racial Justice.
The Antrim "Fostering Community Conversations on Racial Justice" group will meet on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 6:30pm via Zoom.
In the spirit of the start of the new year and looking back on the previous year, we decided to take a deep breath and spend our January session reflecting on our readings and conversations from the past year. We plan to consider the question: How do we want to live as citizens of New Hampshire and the United States in 2023? We will also be making plans for our next topic, and discussing the documentary "Who We Are: A Chronicle of Racism in America" which several of us have viewed. VIsit

New Books and Stories Inspire Antrim’s Children
with the Rural Libraries Grant

On December 9, Antrim’s children were treated to storytelling from Author/Illustrator, Marty Kelley, and brand-new books through a Children’s Literacy Foundation Rural Libraries grant awarded to the James A. Tuttle Library. Marty Kelley led interactive presentations at Antrim Elementary School and the First Friends Preschool.  Youth Services Librarian, Laurie Cass-Griggs, introduced children to new books both the school and public libraries have received through the CLiF grant.
The grant allowed the librarian to select $2,000 worth of new books for the library’s children’s collection. This allows libraries to update their collections and expand nonfiction and fiction options for their young patrons.
The grant supports public libraries in New Hampshire and Vermont towns of 5,000 residents or fewer to partner with schools and childcare centers to encourage a community-wide commitment to literacy. The Antrim Elementary School library will also receive $500 worth of  new books, and a book giveaway.

The Children’s Literacy Foundation (CLiF) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire a love of reading and writing among children up to age 12 throughout New Hampshire and Vermont. Since 1998, CLiF has served over 350,000 children at higher risk of growing up with low literacy skills in communities across every region of the Twin States. For more information visit clifonline.org.
