Ministry and Education Leaders Gathering Invitation

PNCC is hosting Monthly Leaders Gatherings

Dear <<First Name>>,
You are invited to join us Wednesday, March 24th from 9-10am to meet other leaders in churches and education from across NC as we work to support Public Schools and NC's children. These are open meetings, so please feel free to invite friends and colleagues to join us as well!

Register in advance for this meeting:

(This is the same link for each monthly gathering during 2021 on the 4th Wednesday at 9am.)

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. (If you need to join late or leave early, you are welcome to do so!)

Here's our agenda:
  • Brief Introductions from those on the call
  • Announcements & Upcoming Events
  • Brief Introduction to Social Transformation
  • Next steps/Next Meeting Dates (we plan for this to be a monthly call that you can join as you are able!)
These monthly gatherings are geared to clergy and lay leaders who are interested in supporting public schools, and school leaders interested in the intersections of faith and advocacy for public schools. You might be leading a group of volunteers with schools or chair the social justice committee or be clergy wanting to learn more, etc. You might also be church members who is an educator or want to start a group working on school support in your congregation. All are welcome!

Our hope is that this conversation builds a network of interested participants across the state in conversations and collective action to bring systemic change and justice for public schools, especially in more fully funding public education and creating equitable schools for all of NC's children. These are starting as informal meetings to start the conversation and build up leaders to keep reaching out further across the state.

It will be a time for introductions, a bit of teaching or discussion about current situations/policies/bills that are coming up, and a chance to support one another in the work. We know lots of people are doing this work of supporting our local schools in silos and in various counties, and we need people connecting to make a bigger impact, be encouraged, share ideas, etc.

Join us! Here is the meeting link:

Say NO To HB32 -- Expanding Opportunity Scholarships to Private Schools

As faith leaders and faith communities, we are called to care for our neighbors, especially the children and vulnerable among us. A strong education is key to helping children flourish, and public schools serve over 80% of NC Children.

Education is a public good and a key ingredient in a healthy democracy. Public education is a cornerstone of democracy and is a critical public good that must be provided free and fairly without profit, to all students. Supporting public education helps provide the educational, social, and economic needs of our citizens and helps to advance equity. Your voice in advocating for our public schools is vital! Help us protect the promise in our state’s constitution: A sound and basic, high-quality public education, free and open to all. Join our partners Public Schools First NC to tell leaders to SAY NO TO HB32!

Resource Alert--LEANDRO UPDATE

The long awaited plan for the Leandro v. NC Court case was released this week. While it has not yet been ratified by the Courts, it's important for us to follow along. Read the full plan and learn more about why it is so important to NC schools to be fully funded to meet the West Ed requirements from the Leandro case here
