Lane’s annual homecoming festivities were in full swing this past week.  Lane Stadium was plenty busy with a packed pep rally on Friday and then two homecoming games on Saturday. Managing Editor Ruby Thompson and Reporter Jason Coulombe have photo galleries from the events.

A new team has joined the ranks of Lane’s fall sports teams: Girls Flag Football. As the Chicago Public League looks to grow the number of girls involved in football, Lane joined the growing number of CPS schools with a team. While Lane is off to a successful 3-0 start, the team experience and growth of the sport has meant more to the players than just winning, as was on display at CPL’s season kickoff event. Editor-in-Chief Megan Mesikapp has more on the flag football team’s start to the year, which included a special appearance from the NFL’s first female head coach Jen Welter.

Arts and Entertainment

“‘Marcel the Shell with Shoes On’ reminded me of a strange combination of both ‘Toy Story’ and ‘Wallace & Gromit’. Between the stop-motion animation and the talking shells in a human world, Marcel was giving strong Buzz Lightyear meets Claymation vibes,” Arts & Entertainment Editor Nina Figurelli writes in her review of the new mockumentary.
