THIS WEEK'S TOP STORIES
Arts & Entertainment

Netflix

“The show follows the structure of a classic murder mystery just with a younger cast. The show is certainly entertaining and engaging. I finished it in a whole day, and I believe it is the suspense and wanting to see which direction Wednesday will take the plot next that makes the show so bingeable. The Addams family are meant to be kooky, quirky and different. They are supposed to stand out. That was the original purpose of the show — to see how a horrifically hilarious family would fit in a normal town. Wednesday continues to negotiate those trials throughout her journey, which will certainly continue in a hinted at season two from a cliff hanger,” writes Editor-In-Chief Megan Mesikapp in her review of the Netflix original series "Wednesday".

Warner Bros. Pictures

"While this could have been an interesting concept and underlying theme, there isn’t much substance to the plot itself. 'Don’t Worry Darling' is fairly slow-paced and most of the action doesn’t even occur until the last half hour of the film. Not to mention, we were left in suspense for so long that the chaotic ending felt out of left field. The slow build-up didn’t serve to make the plot twists interesting or even meaningful.  What could have been a powerful ending of empowerment fell short due to rushing the most pivotal parts of the film, which left us with so many questions,” writes A&E editor Nina Figurelli in her review of the movie Don’t Worry Darling starring Harry Styles and Florence Pugh.

Students, The Champion wants to hear from you!

Chicago will be electing the next mayor in February.  Your voice matters and The Champion, in partnership with the Scholastic Press Association of Chicago, wants to hear what is important to Lane Tech students. This poll is completely anonymous, unless you volunteer your information, and serves to provide an idea of how safe you feel in your school and community, how well city resources like the CTA work for you and your position on some other issues. Lane students, using their CPS email, can take the poll here.
