At the beginning of this school year, the Art Gallery (Room 147) was designated as a space for practicing Muslim students to complete their afternoon prayer. This has become especially necessary with daylight savings causing days to be shorter. This means that while, in most circumstances, Muslim students had previously been able to make it home to pray, the window now falls within school hours or soon after the final bell rings. The change was advocated for by Lane’s Muslim Club, and many students are grateful and happy to now have a space provided to them. Reporter Sana Kanwal has more on what having this new prayer room means for students and how it works.
