We are excited to launch our Film Series beginning this Tuesday, August 16. Each film and documentary has been carefully selected to highlight an aspect of the refugee crisis and the plight of asylum seekers from a different perspective, and represents a different country or population. Every Film Series event will be accompanied by a panel presentation with the film producer, asylum seekers featured in the film, and/or other experts in immigration policy.

The first film, Midnight Traveller, will stream from August 16-26.

Midnight Traveller is a gripping vérité story made by a family on the run. Hassan and his wife Fatima are both filmmakers who are educating their daughters and encouraging them to be artists. The whole family shot this autobiographical film, which began when they sought and were rejected for refugee protection, and follows them along the notorious Balkan smuggling route. As they experienced increasingly degrading circumstances, the family latched on to filmmaking as a way to not just survive, but retain their humanity. Watch the trailer here.

Join us on Zoom for an up-to-the-minute update on the situation on the ground in Afghanistan as the U.S. military is pulling out and emergency evacuations are underway for some 17,000 Afghan allies and their families. Our panelists are Air Force veteran Phil Caruso, Board Member of No One Left Behind, and Ismail Khan, an Afghan SIV recipient who serves as a No One Left Behind Ambassador.
