URGENT CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS
Join a Welcome Circle by January 17th

HIAS and OCJCR are partnering to form Welcome Circles to help resettle the remaining 35,000 Afghan refugees on U.S. military bases. The U.S. government and resettlement agencies have set a deadline of February 15 to have all remaining Afghan evacuees placed in local communities. The deadline to form Welcome Circle teams is mid January.

Welcome Circles are community sponsorship volunteer teams who will be trained to work closely with Afghan families to help them resettle, form friendships, build connections to their new community, sign up for benefits, find jobs, and work toward achieving self-sufficiency.

HIAS will provide varied support to the circles, including dedicated staff, resources on best practices in resettlement, peer-to-peer mentoring, and technical expertise.

OCJCR will help you or your congregation / organization to form teams and will support local Welcome Circle teams by providing assistance finding housing, provide furniture and household items to set up new homes, making connections to local social services providers, and help navigating the local landscape of support from additional community organizations.
