40 NICKELS - SUNDAY, DECEMBER 12, 10 A.M.
Director Yasmin Gorenberg joins us in conversation about her newest work, 40 Nickels. We will watch the short film together on Zoom, immediately followed by Q & A. Based on her grandfather’s boyhood in St. Louis, Yasmin Gorenberg tells a story of the pain passed from refugee parents to their children and the hope that can overcome it. 40 Nickels captures the image of a generation of immigrants to the United States in the 1920’s and 1930’s and through this spotlights the effects of the 1919 pogroms in Eastern Europe.

CELEBRATE HANUKKAH WITH HIAS:
Sunday, December 5th at 4:00pm Pacific time

Join HIAS for a community candle lighting to celebrate the last night of Hanukkah. We will gather virtually for a moment of shared reflection, song, and light, and to hear from activists across the country who are making a difference for refugees in their communities.

This is an opportunity for advocates, volunteers, and supporters to come together to acknowledge the work we are doing as a community, and to shine a light of welcome for the refugees, immigrants, and asylum seekers still on their journeys to safety.
