for an important and timely update from HIAS

As Vice President for HIAS’ community engagement work Merrill Zack supports a fantastic team in developing educational resources, advocacy and volunteer opportunities, and public actions and programs that energize and prepare the American Jewish community to take action in support of refugees.

With a new administration coming into office, Merrill will share HIAS's priority advocacy agenda items, so that we can take action on behalf of refugees and asylum seekers. We are at the precipice of hope as President-Elect Joe Biden has promised to "reassert America’s commitment to asylum-seekers and refugees."

Pre-registration is required. Click the image above or

Love Without Borders Holiday Online Event
Saturday, December 12 at 10:00 AM (PST)

OCJCR Advisory Council member Gail Dratch is hosting a Love Without Borders online event on Saturday, December 12, at 10AM (PST). At this live Zoom event you will meet refugee artists who will share how art has impacted their experience as refugees in Greece.

Gail met Love Without Borders founder, Kayra Martinez, on her third trip to work with refugees in Greece in January 2018. Kayra will discuss how her idea to share art with a group of children in a Greek refugee camp 4.5 years ago grew into an international self-empowerment project for thousands of refugees. Kayra’s campaign has been featured on TEDx Talks, the NBC Nightly News, Voices of America, and many local and international media outlets.

The artists will share their stories and art with the audience. They are currently living as refugees in Greece and represent Syria, Afghanistan, Congo, Cameroon, Iran, Yemen, Eritrea, and Iraq.

100% of the proceeds from the art sale are given to the artists.
