Take Action to Prevent New Proposed Regulations Barring Asylum

On July 9th the administration proposed new rules posing yet another threat to asylum. Under proposed new regulations, the U.S. would bar asylum seekers coming from any country where COVID-19 is present. That’s most of the world!

The Orange County Jewish Coalition for Refugees (OCJCR) is a volunteer-led affiliate of HIAS. Established in January 2018, OCJCR is a group of individuals, synagogues, and Jewish communal organizations inspired by our people’s history to support refugees locally and worldwide. OCJCR is a signatory to the HIAS Welcome Campaign: a network of 400+ congregations and organizations across the United States who are responding to the largest refugee crisis in human history. The Orange County Jewish Coalition for Refugees (OCJCR) is a fiscally sponsored project of OneOC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All funds raised by OCJCR are received by, and become the sole property of OneOC which, for internal operating purposes, allocates the funds to OCJCR.
