EROC (East Riverside and Oltorf Combined) Contact Team
Malcolm Yeatts, President of the EROC Contact team and champion of Country Club Creek, has shared some information about Parkland Dedication fees generated in the East Riverside area:

Parkland Dedication Fees are paid by new apartment complexes so that future residents can enjoy parks close to where they live. That was the original intention of this ordinance, but the Parks Department later changed the rules to allow these fees to be spent anywhere. The spreadsheet below shows that almost half of the Parkland Dedication Fees generated in the EROC area were spent, or are planned to be spent, outside of the Park Planning Area 12, which includes EROC. There is a property on Ben White that includes the headwaters springs of Country Club Creek that the city could buy.

Malcolm is now asking for our support in emailing the following people to ask that a combination of Watershed Protection money and the remaining Park Planning Area 12 Parkland Dedication Fees be used to buy this environmentally critical property.

The Council District 3 appointee to the Parks Board is Michael Casias.
The Council District 3 appointee to the Environmental Commission is Pam Thompson.
The email addresses of all of the Parks Board members are on this city site.
