Holy Week Approaches
~ Kent Landrum, Executive Pastor

Holy Week is full of celebration and is only days away! Here is a reminder of the special events coming up:

April 2 (Sunday) is “Bring a Friend Day.” This is an excellent opportunity to introduce your friends, neighbors, and family to the Northwest Church community. And since it’s just before Easter, this offers visitors a chance to experience NWC on a typical Sunday before launching into the events of the season.

We will host a Passover Seder on April 7 (Good Friday). This ritual feast reminds us of the Israelites' descent into slavery in Egypt, their suffering under Pharaoh’s rule, and God’s miraculous redemption of the Jewish people.  At the last meal Jesus shared with his disciples, he took elements of the Passover meal and made them symbols of his death.

As we participate in this traditional meal, Rabbi Matt Rosenberg (Restoration Messianic Synagogue) will lead us in reflection on all that Yeshua (Jesus) accomplished when he sacrificed himself on our behalf, as seen through the lens of the Passover Seder. Rabbi Matt is sure to make this evening fun, interactive and inspirational. You won’t want to miss it!

On April 9 (Easter Sunday), we will gather to celebrate the resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. We encourage you, again, to invite your friends, neighbors, and family to join us.

Invitations for you to take will be available this Sunday.

One final note: We realize some of you may have missed an important announcement last week regarding the worship leader position. As you are probably aware, Piper will be leaving us soon. Sunday, it was announced that Shawna Um (who is known and loved by many at NW) is stepping into that position in June. Piper will continue leading worship through the end of May.

Volunteer Opportunities

1) Help with April 7th Passover Seder - Click here for a list of volunteer needs.

2) Help with Ground -- Spring is approaching, which means time to start caring for the grounds. If you have time to help, contact Larry Rafferty or the church office.

3) Sunday Kitchen Clean-up --  This is about a 30-minute job on Sundays following services.  We always have the scones serving trays, communion trays, etc., that need to be washed each week.  If you can help, contact Donna Braxton or the church office.

4) Greeters -- As service continues to fill up, we seek additional greetings. Specifically, some who are willing to help people find seats on those crowded Sunday mornings.  If you can help, contact Donna Braxton or the church office.
