Buy Your Gala Tickets TODAY!
There is no moss growing under our feet here at League and I need to ask you to stop what you're doing and buy your tickets to our 100th Anniversary Gala--RIGHT NOW!  The first 100 registrants will receive a limited edition Susan B. Anthony Dollar with their ticket (a generous donation by member Bil Slankard).  League members are entitled to two tickets at the member rate so wether this a Valentine's or Gal-entine's outing, it is sure to be a fun evening complete with dinner, dancing (dueling pianos!), and a signature cocktail, "The Bees Knees."   Not a member, purchase a non-member ticket and you'll get a free membership to our local League for the remainder of our Anniversary year!  Can't attend? Be like one of our amazing members (who wants to remain anonymous) who has donated two tickets for us to gift as needed.  We look forward to making the event accessible to all.

PS--We could use help making sure our gala with special guest Pat Lindner and honoring our Environmental Chair Regina de Leon Gomez with the Pat Lindner Award and recognizing our Ally Award recipient High School District 214 is a success.  Please email chair Heidi Graham at events.lwvah@gmail.com or give her a call at 847-687-2497.

Aside from planning and executing a large scale Gala in honor of our 100th Anniversary (you've got your tickets now, right?), we've started the year with Civics Clubs and a Member Training and are getting ready for a Voter Registration Drive at Hersey High School, a Book Club, Podcast Club, our Annual MLK Movie event, our first ever Stroll to the Polls, and a Candidates' Forum.  And that's just in the first two months of 2020.

What is Stroll to the Polls you ask? This is a program in which we will use High School students and League volunteers to go door to door with voting and census information in order to increase participation in the upcoming election and this year's census. Volunteers are beta testing this program in two precincts near Rolling Meadows High School in preparation to make this program High School District 214 wide in the fall.

If you wish to help with this program, The Signup Genius can be accessed here; please note, for liability, volunteers must be a D214 parent, staff, or registered League member.

Speaking of membership, have you signed up and paid?  Yep, because we use a free platform for our membership form, we have to direct you to one link for the membership form and another link for payment.  Remember, we are a 100% volunteer organization.  Our membership dues help fund our programs like Stroll to the Polls, Voter Registrations, Candidate Forums, and Birthday Envelopes, but we actually pay out most of our membership fees to State and National levels of League.  Consider making your membership a higher level or simply donate today.  Our League also offers a Sponsored Level (free) to overcome barriers for participation but we can't do this without funding the cost of those memberships through the generous support of our members and allies.

*Note, any current member with outstanding dues as of January 31 will be moved to inactive status.

Travel green...if you can, pick riding a bike over driving a car. If you can’t, carpooling and using more fuel-efficient cars can make a difference. Trains tend to be better than planes. If you have to fly, consider offsetting your emissions by donating to an organization to plant trees.
NONBINARY: People are nonbinary if their gender identity is not strictly male or female. Not synonymous with transgender.
Support one of our own Emerging Leaders, Lucy Neacy, by ordering Girl Scout cookies.  You can email her your orders at alucy5001@gmail.com.  Remember, you can always choose to donate to our Troops overseas.  Girl Scouts pays for all donated cookies to be delivered.  It's win/win!

When placing your order, please include your name, phone number, and address so Lucy can deliver your cookies and collect payment to her Troop; cookies are delivered around the time of our 100th Anniversary!
