Greeting and Welcome
Today we celebrate Pentecost Sunday and remember the day the disciples received the Holy Spirit in a special way. The story in Acts 2 describes a powerful wind and tongues of fire as the Holy Spirit was poured out on people from all over the world who came to Jerusalem to celebrate a Jewish feast. At the first Pentecost over 3000 people were baptized, creating the first church. This is why Pentecost is known as the birthday of the Christian church.
The word Pentecost comes from a Greek word meaning fiftieth. The Christian festival of Pentecost falls on the 50th day after the resurrection of Jesus.

Prelude
God Is Here Today

Centering Words (Pastor)
Come Holy Spirit, come. Come as the fierce wind and fill this house of worship. Come as tongues of fire and enliven our hearts. Come as a dove and give us your joy. Come as sighs too deep for words and bring us comfort. Come Spirit of truth, Spirit of love, Spirit of God! Come!

Call to Worship (Responsive)
Call upon God’s holy name
For in calling, we are saved.
Listen to the wind of the Spirit
For in listening, we find new life.
Respond to the promises of Christ.
For in responding, we bring hope to our world.

Opening Prayer (Unison)
Spirit of God, come upon our hearts and souls. Revive our own spirits to love and serve. Set our tongues free to proclaim your praise. Blow into our lives, once more. Help us find the strength and courage to become the people you call us to be. Amen.

Prayer of Yearning (Unison)
Spirit of wind and flame, blow open the doors of our hearts that keep us away from others. We long to be set free from the fears that jail us and the chains that bind us. We yearn to draw near to your source of living water and to drink from its well. We want to be cleansed in your holy fire and to be guided by your winds of grace. Come to us, Mighty Spirit, that we may embrace your gifts in service to a world in need. Amen.

Words of Assurance (Responsive)
Rejoice, people of God! The Holy Spirit is here with us renewing our hearts with his love!
In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!
Thanks be to God!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
We are looking for help! If you can spare a little time to fill in with any of these tasks, please let Pastor Ileana know. Training will be provided. If several people take turns, the jobs will get done without taking too much of any one person's time. Please give us some help!
  1. Write down prayer requests during the Joys and Concerns portion of the Sunday service. This is important so we can add all who need prayer to our Prayer List.
  2. Operate the projector in the sanctuary during the Sunday Service to show the Power Point presentation of the service.
  3. Coordinate the live stream of the Sunday service. Make sure the Wi-Fi connection is working in the sanctuary.
Annual Cemetery Meeting June 6th
