Psalm 62:5, “Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.”

Have you ever broken a promise? We may sometimes break our promises because of circumstances, our feelings, or our desires. We may not keep our promises to God, to ourselves, and to others at all times. When that happens, we recognize that we are not trustworthy.

Unlike us, God never breaks His promises to us. No matter what circumstances we are in and no matter what happens, God keeps His promises with us. Even when we do not keep our promises with God, He never forgets the promises and keeps them. So, when we are weak, when we go astray, or when our faith is shaken, God is still with us and shows us His faithfulness.

That is why we can put our hope in God. God is trustworthy. God is faithful. And God never breaks  promises. If we put our hope in God, we will not be disappointed (Isaiah 49:23).

As we begin Advent, let us think again about the promises God has made to us. I pray we will experience how faithfully God keeps His promise that when we live by holding onto that promise He will stand with us.
