Psalm 1:3, “That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.”

The thirst in us is revealed through our lives. People with a lack of recognition are constantly striving for recognition. People who lack affection constantly strive to be loved by others. And lonely people find friends to share life with. We can see this lack within us drives our lives.

However, the problem is that just because we are recognized and loved by people, our emptiness is not completely satisfied. For a moment we may feel that we are filled by them, but soon we are thirsty again.

It is Jesus who can completely satisfy our thirst. Jesus said in John 4:14, “…but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." The more we try to make up for our lack through people or the world, the thirstier our souls become. We can get disappointed or hurt by people.

But those who are filled by Jesus are like “a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither” (Psalm 1:3). We will be never disappointed or hurt by him. It is because Jesus, the source of our lives, can fill the thirst within us.

Is there any thirst in your life? Then let's go before the Lord. The Lord will satisfy our thirst.
