Call For Speakers for MAVRIC 2020 is still OPEN!

We are planning a physical event in Baltimore in August of 2020.  If we can't get together IRL, we'll do a virtual event at that time.  Please submit your talk ideas to https://go.umd.edu/MAVRIC2020Sub before May 14.  We can't have an amazing event without you!

What a month… I usually don’t spend your valuable time on prose in these newsletters, but I think it’s worth taking a moment to discuss what’s next in this industry and for the MAVRIC community.

I’ve re-written this a couple of times, because there is a lot to say these days, but I’m going to try to bullet point the highlights:

There has never been a better time to launch enterprise XR – distance learning, remote work, and shared viewing have never been more important and I believe we’ve just gotten a 2-3 year boost in adoption of hardware and techniques compared to our previous path.

Deadlines are… flexible – some of the items posted here and last month that are now ‘past the deadline’ aren’t in fact, so double-check if certain opportunities might still be open after the original dates.

I’d like to experiment with a ‘Looking for Group’ function for MAVRIC and the newsletter.  If you are
  • Looking for partners in XR
  • Looking for employees for XR
then please let us know and we’ll add your project/ job to the next newsletter.

Likewise, if you have open positions for interns or employees, please forward them to us so we can distribute to the students – many companies are pulling back at this moment, which means that awesome students are left without the positions they were promised – the old company’s loss is your gain.

Finally, stay safe, practice good hygiene (virtual and physical) and keep making awesome XR!

Events

With so many events cancelled in the last month, we'd love to help you find your audience again.  MAVRIC can host up to 1000 person meetings via Zoom or Webex and we'd love to partner with you to get your events Virtual!  Please contact our director at lucienp@umd.edu!
