Now, those who haven’t read it can join in as we explore the story of Virginia Hall, a young American woman--rejected from the foreign service because of her gender and her prosthetic leg--who talked her way into the spy organization dubbed Churchill's "ministry of ungentlemanly warfare," and, before the United States had even entered the war, became the first woman to deploy to occupied France.

Spooky Short Story Contest

Theme: Out of this World
Drop your short story off at the children’s desk or email it to to enter!
Love scary stories? Why not try to write one! Submit a Spooky Short Story for our second annual contest! Stories can contain mystery, suspense or supernatural elements. 

Short Stories must be original and should be between 1,000-5,000 words. Stories that contain subject matter determined inappropriate by the judges and will not be considered. 
Participants must be in grades 6-12. Winners will be awarded in two categories, grades 6-8 and grades 9-12. Winners will receive a $30 Amazon Gift Card and will be announced at the end of October. Judges will be a mixture of library staff and local authors.
