Two years and nine months after starting work on the project to reconstruct the Acropolis of ancient Athens, Flyover Zone announced the completion of work on March 25, 2022. Flyover’s President Dr. Bernard Frischer stated, “I’m happy to publish the news that we’ve given birth to a new model of the Acropolis. Its gestation took two years longer than the canonical nine months, so you can imagine how happy and relieved Flyover Zone is to have reached this happy day. We thank the entire Athens Reborn team, led by Prof. Jenifer Neils, for their tireless work and breathtaking results. This is a reconstruction that makes us proud both because of its beauty and also on account of its scientific rigor and accuracy. On behalf of the company, I express my thanks to all the members of the team, without whom we would never have been able to reach this milestone.”
The following individuals are credited for their contributions to the reconstruction project:
- Project Director: Prof. Jenifer Neils Director (American School of Classical Studies at Athens)
- Architectural Historian and Head of Research: Prof. Samuel Holzman (Princeton University)
- Scientific Advisors: Jenifer Neils, Robert Pitt (College Year Athens), Katherine Schwab (Fairfield University)
- Script: Rebecca Levitan (University of California, Berkeley), Jenifer Neils, Samuel Holzman, Katherine Schwab
- 3D Modeling: Lasha Tshkondia (Flyover Zone)
- Art Direction and Detailing: Mohamed Abdelaziz (Flyover Zone)
- Project Management: Prof. Albert Prieto (Flyover Zone and Loyola University Campus, Rome)
- Producer: Dr. Bernard Frischer (Founder and President, Flyover Zone)
Flyover Zone also announced that the virtual tour of the Acropolis will be released on the Yorescape platform at no cost in late May 2022. You can download the free beta version of Yorescape at www.yorescape.com
We conclude with some views of the 3D model featured on the tour along with many panoramic photographs showing the Acropolis today. Enjoy!

The bronze statue of Perikles by Kresilas is known to have stood just beyond the Propylaia. Flyover Zone’s Mohamed Abdelaziz reconstructed it using our model of the head in the Vatican Museums. In the distance are seen the statue of Athena Promachos and the west façade of the Parthenon.

Athena Parthenos, a 13-meter tall chryselephantine statue by Pheidias. The model of the statue derives from a digitization of the statue by the American sculptor Alan LeQuire in the Parthenon in Nashville, TN. Flyover Zone expresses its gratitude to the Centennial Park Conservancy and to Alan LeQuire for permission to make the model. The model differs slightly from the original to reflect the phase of the work seen on our virtual tour, which is set in the late fourth century BCE.
