On Tuesday, October 1, the pan-African operator MainOne, Accredited Company in the Technological Park Mahatma GANDHI Technological Village, lands its submarine cable in Grand-Bassam- Côte d'Ivoire, the last stage of its expansion project of its international telecommunications network in Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire. The landing of the submarine cable in Grand-Bassam after that of Dakar in Senegal completes the MainOne Communications System, which opens to Côte d'Ivoire and neighboring countries.
The submarine cable will be connected to the new MainOne datacenter, built at VITIB in Grand-Bassam, which will house the technological infrastructures that will facilitate the development of the digital economy in Côte d'Ivoire.
Commenting on MainOne's investments in Côte d'Ivoire, MainOne Chief Executive Officer Funke Opeke said, "We would like to accelerate the development of the digital ecosystem not only in Côte d'Ivoire but also throughout the West African subregion through the landing of this new submarine cable and ultra-modern data center in Grand-Bassam open to all. »
MainOne's submarine cable was the first private cable built in West Africa covering 7000KM with an expandable capacity of 10Tbps to connect West Africa to Europe via a landing in Portugal and featuring several links to London, Paris and Amsterdam and extensions planned for Morocco and Tenerife.
