Spring Craft Retreat:

What a beautiful weekend for a craft retreat! We all had such a great time eating snacks, drinking hot chocolate and getting to know each other more. We had a room full of women working on a variety of different projects. Scrapbooks, genealogy research, card making, cookbooks, piecing, painting and so much more. However, this craft retreat was also a time for many to work on service projects.

One quilt became a team effort. The fabric was donated by one person, another pieced it and it will be quilted by yet another group. This quilt will be anonymously donated to next year’s relief sale. See the first picture below to see this beautiful piece of art!

Candra Sowder and Kristy Cox both were working on a similar project. Candra was sewing a pattern that is a revision of Nacy Zieman’s little Dresses for Africa charity. These are often referred to as a pillowcase dress that are made and sent to different developing countries. Kristy was also making these dresses for “Dress A Girl Around the World” which is a non-denominational Christian based organization based out of Forest City, Iowa. Candra gave her finished dresses to Kristy to donate to this charity. See the second picture below.

Kristy was also making some adorable dolls (third picture below) called Peace Pals for the organization “Knitting 4 Peace”. They distribute handmade hats, scarves, mittens, and other items both in the United States and internationally. Peace Pals are their most requested item!

You do not want to miss our next craft retreat coming in October. Be sure to watch our website or Facebook page for more information.

To encourage families to join the fun, a junior course will be available! A free-will donation lunch will follow the event.
