Dear Academy Family,

Whitesburg Baptist Church voted yesterday on a recommendation for The Academy to proceed with feasibility and fundraising for the construction of a competition gym. The vote was in favor, 487 to 13. This is a very strong affirmation of the ministry and work of Whitesburg Christian Academy. The recommendation included a provision that The Academy should complete this project with no additional long term permanent debt. This provision was included because the administration of The Academy indicated that we do not want to incur additional debt which would be a hindrance to financial strength of our growing school.

Architects have been at work on preliminary renderings of a new gym. The Academy administration gathered information from area athletic directors whose schools have built new gyms in the last few years. This information was discussed in a meeting with architects to direct them in their preliminary design work.

There was another meeting with a small number of academy families to discuss options for fundraising for the gym. To date no formal fundraising has occurred. However, from that initial meeting, two families have pledged lead gifts totaling $4,000,000. This is an amazing, indeed miraculous, start to our gym project. We expect architect renderings by next week and will begin meeting with donors. You will be receiving more information in the early weeks of summer about your opportunity to support this project.

I have shared this information to let you know that God continues to work in amazing ways within our school family. The Kingdom Education concept of home, church, and school working in partnership for the training and education of children is being blessed in wonderful ways by our amazing God. Please pray for The Academy Administration as we move forward with plans for next year, and for the progress of the construction of a new gym.

It’s a great time to be a Warrior,

Jerry Reeder
