Welcome to the first health & wellbeing update for 2022!

We hope that you have had a restful and safe holiday break, and that you have had the chance to relax and reconnect with your family, friends and yourself!

We're incredibly excited for the new year and the opportunities that it brings to work with your services to create healthy environments where the children and staff can thrive and be supported in their wellbeing. We're looking forward to connecting (and re-connecting) with you over the coming months. As usual, each month we will aim to share
resources, programs, grants, professional learning opportunities and events to help maximise wellbeing in your service.

The Health Promotion Team at Central Bayside Community Health Services (CBCHS) are always available to provide tailored support to help your services build a whole of service approach to health and wellbeing for children, staff and families, using initiatives
like the Achievement Program and more! If you would like free support to build a positive and healthy environment within your service, please get in touch with our team to get started!

Take care,
Kayla - Health Promotion Team at CBCHS

Healthy Lunchbox Week | 6 - 12 February

Did you know that children consume around 30% of their daily food intake at school or kinder? Most of this comes from their own lunchboxes! What children eat during their day plays a big role in their learning, development and wellbeing.

So Healthy Lunchbox Week aims to inspire Australian families to create and prepare easy, healthy and enjoyable lunchboxes by:

  • Providing healthy lunchbox ideas and recipes
  • Ensuring a balance across the five food groups in lunchboxes
  • Building awareness of lunchbox food safety
There is a whole range of resources and inspo that can be shared with families, parents and staff  on the Healthy Lunchbox Week website - check it out below!

Making all families feel welcome!

With new families and children joining your service in the new year, it's so important to make them feel welcome!

Kingston is home to families of so many diverse cultures, so why not display the Victorian Inclusion Agency's (VIA) "Welcome" poster  at your service! The printable poster shows how to say ‘hello’ in some of the most common languages spoken in Victoria. There’s also space to add any other languages spoken in your local community.

Cooks Network Expression of Interest

This year, together with Caulfield Community Health Service we are looking to establish a brand new networking opportunity for Long Day Care (LDC) centre cooks. The network will be an opportunity for cooks to learn new skills, share recipes and ideas as well as come together and interact with other LDC cooks from the area.

We would love to hear from your centre’s cook on their interest in participating within the network!

Please forward this quick EOI on to your centre cooks.
