Each month, we aim to share resources, programs, grants, professional learning opportunities and events to help maximise wellbeing in your service.

Waste Education Program
Are you interested in learning how to better look after the environment at your service? Kingston Council through EnviroCom Australia run a FREE waste education professional development program for Early Childhood Services.
 
Learn how to assess and improve the current waste management practices at your service with a waste education kit provided to use with the children to encourage open-ended play experiences and opportunities for intentional teaching.

Food for Thought on Starting a Kitchen Garden
Are you interested in starting a kitchen garden at your service but don’t know where to start? The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation run a Kitchen Garden Program for Early Childhood and have created a one-page guide outlining the fundamental steps involved in building a
successful, sustainable, best practice Kitchen Garden Program. This guide provides an overview of what’s involved with tips to help get you started!

Packing a Healthy Lunchbox
Packing a healthy lunchbox can seem daunting and overwhelming but it doesn’t have to be! Cancer Council have created an online Healthy Lunchbox Builder which outlines the food groups to include and provides ideas and tips on what to pack. Children can get involved and help their parents choose what foods to include in their lunchbox.

National Families Week | 15-21 May
National Families Week (NFW) is a time to celebrate family and community, and the role families play by working together to support each other and provide care for those in the broader community. This year marks 20 years of National Families Week with the theme for this year Stronger Families, Stronger Communities.

National Reconciliation Week | 27 May - 3 June
Reconciliation Australia's theme for 2022, ‘Be Brave. Make Change.’ is a challenge to all Australians - to Be Brave and tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation so we can Make Change for the benefit of all Australians.

Reconciliation is a journey for all Australians - National Reconciliation Week (NRW) gives us the opportunity to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and explore how we can all contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
