Welcome to the December health & wellbeing update for 2022!

We would like to begin by acknowledging the Traditional Owners of the land on which we meet at Central Bayside, the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation, and pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people past, present and emerging, especially acknowledging the wisdom of Elders.

As we approach the end of another year, I wanted to take some time to say a big thank you and well done on another extraordinary year! It has been wonderful to get back to visiting services in person this year and contribute to your commitment to supporting the wellbeing of the children in your care, their families and your colleagues. I hope that you are all able to take some time to recharge over the holiday break and have some fun!

As always, our team is here to support your early childhood service to create healthy environments for children, staff and families. If you would like to learn more about how we support services to do this, please get in touch - we would love to work with you in 2023!

Have a safe and wonderful holiday season and new year!

Take care,
Kayla - Health Promotion Team at CBCHS

FOR STAFF & EDUCATORS
Professional Development  - We Want to Hear From You!
With the new year fast approaching, we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to start planning for 2023! We are eager to find different ways to support early childhood service staff and educators to create healthy environments in their centres.

So, we want to hear from you on what professional development topics and opportunities around health and wellbeing you would like to participate in during 2023.

Let us know by filling out a quick survey below!

FOR THE WHOLE SERVICE COMMUNITY
Christmas Snack Fun
As it is the holiday season, why not have a bit of fun and get creative with your food! Arrange your fruit or veggie platter as a wreath or snowman, make Santa hats or pizza Christmas trees. Get the kids involved in creating healthy and festive snacks! This can be enjoyed by the whole service community - a cooking activity with the children, by the cooks or as some fun in the kitchen at home!
For inspiration, visit the below links: If you have some fun Christmas or holiday snack ideas, be sure to share them with us.
Outside Holiday Fun
With the holidays fast approaching, you may be thinking "how will I keep the children entertained?" Getting them outside to explore nature is a great way to keep them occupied. Check out the Nature Play website where they share some downloadable resources (alphabetical nature walk, nature bingo) as well as some outdoor apps that encourage children to get active. Enjoy these activities together or watch your children have fun and explore the outdoors!
