Actions The City is Taking

Learn about actions the City has taken in response to COVID-19 with this short video.

Although City Facilities have closed to the public, City staff continues to work diligently to keep our community safe and informed.  We have established protocols to ensure you can continue to conduct City business (via phone or email), created procedures for providing remote public comment at our City Council meetings, and created additional avenues to keep you informed (like our COVID-19 Website)! More recent actions we have taken include:
  • Re-deploying selected public safety resources to outdoor locations such as the Recreation Trail and Lover's Point Park to ensure proper social-distancing requirements are being followed by those out exercising
  • Increasing the City's public information efforts and expanding the City's information community through external mailings and targeted advertising
  • Requiring new hygiene protocols for all City employees to reduce the likelihood of virus transmittal
  • Rapidly exploring and procuring technology tools to better allow all City meetings to be convened remotely, including the City Council meeting (stay tuned for details)
  • Coordinating on a daily basis with regional partners (neighboring cities, the County and special districts) to share information and best practices
  • Conducting close patrols and checks on both opened and closed local businesses for added security and compliance
  • Developing an urgency ordinance to provide eviction protection during the emergency.

If you see our officers responding to calls in full Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to gloves, face masks, suits and booties, please do not be alarmed.

We are taking extraordinary protections to ensure that we remain healthy and able to keep our city safe. It does not mean that the person we are responding to is sick or that we are sick, it is a precaution to do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19.
