With a 350-year winemaking tradition, South Africa blends high-quality production with eco-friendly practices, making it one of the most exciting and environmentally conscious wine regions in the world.

Wine has been produced in South Africa ever since the first traders from the Dutch East India Company set up a supply station on the Cape, more than 350 years ago. The country’s dry and sunny Mediterranean climate, cooled by the confluence of the Atlantic and Indian oceans, is ideal for growing a wide range of grapes, and the dramatic geography allows it to produce myriad styles.

Today, South African wines are recognized for offering excellent quality at affordable prices — and sustainability.

This year, Graham Beck is delighted to celebrate 50 golden years of South Africa's finest Cap Classique. Bubbly lovers the world over have revelled in the country's famous bottle-fermented sparkling wines.
NEW RELEASE Graham Beck Brut Zero Cap Classique 2014
VINTAGES#: 435453, $25.95 SHOP »»

"This is a lovely, creamy, complex and fresh, very dry (zero dosage) traditional method sparkling wine from specialist Graham Beck, and solid value at $26 to be sure. Effervescence is gentle, and toasty autolysis character is high, aged nearly 6 years on the lees. Very good length with an appealing touch of bitterness on the back end to freshen up the ensemble. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Disgorged September 2020." Score: 91 Pts. - John Szabo, MS, winealign.com. Tasted April 2021.
The vineyards selected for the Cape of Good Hope range represent some of the oldest vines in the country, lovingly tended to produce only the finest reflection of their terroir. These vines are a reflection of a countrywide search that was to spark a worldwide movement.
NEW RELEASE Anthonij Rupert Cape of Good Hope Altima Sauvignon Blanc 2018
VINTAGES#: 15713, $19.95 SHOP »»

"Altima comes from Bokkeveld shale soils in the amazing terroir of Elandskloof, located between 650 and 850 metres. Leesy, saline and nettley, it's a welcome antidote to simple, fruit-driven Sauvignon Blancs with noteworthy freshness, focus and palate precision. 2019-24." Score: 93 Pts. - Tim Atkin, MW, timatkin.com, South Africa Special Report 2019.
From the world-renowned Helderberg region of Stellenbosch comes an award-winning range of wines named after South African golf legend, Ernie Els, and skillfully crafted by winemaking legend, Louis Strydom.
Ernie Els Proprietor's Blend 2016
VINTAGES#: 15779, $36.95 SHOP »»

"Cabernet Sauvignon is in the driving seat here, with 40% Shiraz, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot its fellow passengers. 2016 wasn't an easy vintage, but Louis Strydom has handled the conditions well, producing a wine that's serious, deeply coloured, yet well balanced, with coffee bean oak and flavours of dried herbs and intense dark berry fruit. 2022-2028." Score: 92 Pts. - Tim Atkin, MW, timatkin.com, South Africa Special Report 2019.
We can't imagine a more delicious pairing than a South African Sauvignon Blanc enjoyed with mussels in a creamy wine and herb infused sauce.
