Anthonij Rupert is one of South Africa’s top producers of premium and super premium table wines grown across four properties in Franschhoek, Elandskloof, Kasteelberg and Darling. The line-up of wines include everything from the comfortable and traditional varietals South Africa is best known for – Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinotage, Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon – right through to adventurous and progressive varietals, such as Ugni Blanc, Marsanne, Sangiovese, Carignan and Petit Verdot. Across all the various brands and ranges crafted at Anthonij Rupert, you will find well-made and authentic wines that appeal to thoughtful lovers of South African wines. These varied and diverse terroirs create a veritable artists’ palate of raw materials from which to draw, and the final bottlings have emerged as one of South Africa’s most sought after and celebrated collections of estate wines.

L'Ormarins Blanc de Blancs 2013

Lively fine mousse. Bright and zesty lemon aromas tinged with subtle oyster shell and sour dough bread yeastiness, limestone and a faint hint of caramel. Similar refreshing exuberance in the mouth with lively fresh, lemon zest and grapefruit pith flavours balanced by a rich, rounded, toasty yeast element. The bubbly is tangy and vibrant while taut and focussed with a long, lingering sour dough aftertaste.

Cape of Good Hope Altima Sauvignon Blanc 2017

Bold tropical granadilla and gooseberry notes tinged with grapefruit and lime zest. Just a vague hint of flint. The entry is bold and assured with crisp, zingy grapefruit and granadilla flavour. Stone fruit succulence then takes over and in turn makes way for a flinty mineral twist. Lovely taut body and structure with good length and breadth and a lingering, soft, elderflower finish.

Cape of Good Hope Serruria Chardonnay 2015

Shy orange blossom bouquet with a whiff of spice too. Fresh, lively and zippy in the mouth with ample orange and citrus flavour cloaked with creamy vanilla oak. The flavours grow like a peacock fantail, starting off quite reserved and then revealing more depth and richness. Lovely harmonious integration of oak and fruit. Long and yet light and bright.

Cape of Good Hope Riebeeksrivier Caroline 2014

Delicate orange blossom notes overlay more distinctive creamy citrus peel on the nose. Ripe honeyed peaches drenched in cream, but the palate is not big and bold. It’s refined and elegant. A zesty lemon pith note keeps it fresh and lively. Delightful integration of oak and fruit, utterly seamless and harmonious. Serious, nuanced and layered with beautifully smooth mouthfeel and a rewarding finish.
"Inviting, with a flash of brioche starting off, followed by tasty pear, yellow apple and almond flavors. The brioche edge guides the finish, but there's adequate zip for balance. Chenin Blanc, Roussanne, Viognier and Marsanne."  SCORE: 89 Pts  - JM, WineSpectator.com

Cape of Good Hope Riebeeksrivier Western Slopes 2013

Located in the Swartland region, Riebeeks Rivier Farm supplies the grapes for this elegant and wonderfully fruity red wine. The delicate nose is dark fruited (cherry, plum, and blackcurrant) with hints of cedar. This is echoed on the palate. It’s nuanced, silky, and structured with integrated tannins. 70% Shiraz, 13% Mourvèdre, 10% Grenache, 6% Carignan, and 1% Viognier.

Anthonij Rupert Optima 2013

Complex layers of inviting deep blueberry, cassis, and spicy cocoa aromas. The palate is fresh and lively with an abundance of the same blueberry, cassis and cocoa flavours. Structured and graceful with velvety, soft-textured mouth feel and lovely integration of oak and fruit. Complex, nuanced and subtly powerful, nothing is overplayed. Delicious.
"Blackcurrants, brambleberries, mint, eucalyptus and paprika. Full body, structured tannins and a warm finish. Drink in 2020." SCORE: 92 Pts  - James Suckling, Jun. 25, 2018

Anthonij Rupert Cabernet Franc 2012

Fruitcake, cassis and spice nose with a light floral whiff adding an extra element. Appealing blue and black berry fruit in abundance on a broad, textured palate. Rich and dry with bright, vibrant spice and graphite notes. Structured with a defined backbone of oak which supports rather than overwhelms the fruit. Elegant and refined with a lengthy aftertaste.

Anthonij Rupert Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Delicate nose with herbaceous blackcurrant, cassis, violet, black cherry, and, a subtle hint of chocolate, too. In the mouth, the wine is fresh, juicy, and vibrant with red and black berry fruit immediately apparent. Earthy cocoa and spice nuance follow through. Sructured with a firm backbone of refined tannin from well-integrated oak. Complex and alluring with smooth texture and mouthfeel. Lingers long and will age well.
"This has an old-school character and a bit of power, with strong, smoldering notes of tobacco and charcoal out front, followed by steeped blackberry and black currant fruit. Light coffee and cedar accents fill in through the finish, lending a pleasantly rustic echo at the very end. Drink now through 2021."  SCORE: 92 Pts  - JM, Wine Spectator, Feb. 28, 2018
