With the festive season upon us, we are here to help take the guesswork out of choosing wines for family, friends and holiday guests. Whether you are aiming to impress or you are just seeking a crowd pleasing wine, look no further than these fine red and white wines — all NEW releases in LCBO Vintages:
Zenato San Benedetto Lugana 2020
Veneto, Italy
VINTAGES#: 707158, $19.95 SHOP »»
"Pleasant aromas and flavours of apples and pears with some fresh herbs, flowers and minerals. A full-bodied white with a rich vein of ripe fruit all the way through to the end. Delicious. Drink now." Score: 92 Pts. - James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, June 2, 2021.

Rapaura Springs Rohe Sauvignon Blanc 2020
Marlborough, New Zealand
VINTAGES#: 12647, $24.95 SHOP »»
"Quite a sophisticated bouquet with aromas of silty soils and salty ai, followed by aromas of lemon and peach, a soft grassy and fresh herb layer and an enticing mineral core. On the palate — equally sophisticated and vibrant, loaded with texture and mouthfeel from some lees and a whisper of fruit tannins. Fruit flavours reflect the nose with plenty of acidity to carry the flavours through a lengthy finish. Great balance and very youthful. Ready to enjoy from today and through 2023+. Excellent." Score: 93 Pts. - camdouglasms.com, August 23, 2020.

Mas des Bressades Cuvée Tradition Blanc 2020
Rhône, France
VINTAGES#: 701094, $17.95 SHOP »»
The Marès family began making wine in Algeria during the early 20th century before acquiring properties in France. This long-time Vintages customer favourite grows in the Petite Camargue: the expansive river delta where the Rhône River meets the Mediterranean. Expect a cornucopia of tropical and orchard fruit. Savour with lobster tail or honey-garlic chicken.

Château de l'Escarelle Blanc 2020
Provence, France
VINTAGES#: 20903, $19.95 SHOP »»
Rolle (Vermentino) and Ugni Blanc are the classic and most important grapes for Coteaux Varois white blends, though Sémillon, Clairette and Grenache Blanc are also used. Rolle brings richness and lifted white floral notes, while Ugni Blanc imparts a crisp, fresh acidity. The floral tones here are joined by bright citrus, apple, pear and a refined minerality. A wine for seafood.

Donnachiara Aglianico 2019
Campania, Italy
VINTAGES#: 19334, $18.95 SHOP »»
"Layers of ripe plums, orange peel, sweet tobacco and licorice on the nose. Smoke, ash, some tar and cedar, too. It's full-bodied with firm but smooth tannins. More citrus-peel, dried-fruit and spice notes continue to a rounded, lightly bitter finish. Drink from 2022 to 2025." Score: 93 Pts. - James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, November 24, 2020.

Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Nozzole Chianti Classico Riserva 2018
Tuscany, Italy
VINTAGES#: 11109, $24.95 SHOP »»
"Rich and aromatic on the nose with sour cherries, light hazelnuts and dried fruit. Full-bodied and very rich with lots of fruit and layers of chewy tannins. Flavourful finish. Give it some time to soften and open. Try after 2023, or decant and enjoy tonight with richly flavoured meats, such as lamb or roast beef." Score: 93 Pts. - James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, August 11, 2021.

Château La Garricq Cru Bourgeois Moulis-en-Médoc 2015
Bordeaux, France
VINTAGES#: 21094, $38.95 SHOP »»
"Darker fruits, including riper plum and raisins here, with fresh leafy aromas and earthy notes. The palate delivers a vibrant array of gently tart dark plums and berry amid supple, sturdy tannins. Try from 2022." Score: 93 Pts. - James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, February 2, 2018.

Muga Selección Especial 2016
Rioja, Spain
VINTAGES#: 472902, $49.00 SHOP »»
"A very pretty, manicured young red with plum, berry and dark-chocolate character. Medium body and round tannins that are focused and firm. Delicious, succulent finish. Plenty of subtle fruit and supple tannins take you to where you want to go in fine Rioja red. Drinkable now but linear and tight. Give it some time. Better after 2021." Score: 95 Pts. - James Suckling, jamessuckling.com
