Things are starting to grow, now that it's March. Most of the orchard blossoms have dropped, making way for the leaves. But in Chinatown, the only thing that's growing is number of construction sites.

Our best advice: USE FRESNO STREET to get to Chinatown. Not only are construction sites popping up regularly, but the detours are sending people out of Chinatown.

If you come in Ventura or Mono, please know that if G Street and F Street have you blocked off, try E Street and come back to F or G on Kern Street. We're trying to keep a handle on them - stay tuned to our Facebook page, Chinatown Road Construction, for the latest we have.

Also in this edition,
  • Community Meeting - April 14
  • Jane's Walk in Chinatown
  • How to wash your hands
  • Chinatown Live! in September - sponsors sought
  • And of course, some links

Keep an eye out for construction sites - they're all over Chinatown. We did get a change from daytime construction to nighttime construction on F Street.

But the pop-up road construction sites are wreaking havoc in Chinatown. It's worth repeating:

Join the Jane's Walk in Chinatown!
Jane’s Walk is an annual festival of free, community-led walking conversations inspired by Jane Jacobs held the first weekend in May all over the world.

It is a community-based approach to city building that uses citizen-led walking tours to make space for people to observe, reflect, share, question and re-imagine the places in which they live, work and play. Jane Jacobs was a champion for including everyday people and their insights into neighborhood planning and community building. Walks include the stories and experiences of real people in real places and invite the insights of everyone attending.

We have Fresno's resident Jane Jacobs expert, Craig Scharton, leading our Jane's Walk. We'll let you know when (probably Saturday, May 2) and where as soon as we know!

Of course there will be a 2020 Chinatown Live! It'll be in the fall this year. More soon.

We want this to be spectacular, so we're looking for sponsors. Maybe that could be you or your company? Contact the Jan (559.859.1763) or any Chinatown Fresno board member. Join us in creating a spectacular Chinatown Live!
